If my memory is correct, the first run of PM45 did not have the cutout and had difficulty ejecting a live round. Hence the scoop.
Thanks all for the replies. I was not concerned with the"scoop," but the slight peening next to it. No issues at the range on two visits, and I am very impressed (especially after replacing the RSA).
