    Default Slide Blackening

I have worked really hard to have all my Kahrs have a black diamond finished slide.

    However my Kahr
    TP45
    T9
    T40

Appear to only come with a silver SS slide.

Can anyone suggest who I can send my TP45 slide to to get it blackened.

Hello Gokyo and welcome to Kahrtalk...I much prefer the DLC black finish also...You can have it plated with a product called Cerakote and there are gunsmiths and dealers around the country that do the process which is a very durable long lasting finish but is a little pricy but it's the way to go...You are in the PNW so I googled Cerakote Seattle WA and came up with 2 dealers, Gun Doctor Seattle 206-753-9374 and Olympic Plating in Lacey Wa 360-602-1445 so just google Cerakote and whatever city you are in or near and you can read about the process and get a price for doing the work...The slide must be completely torn down so that's part of the price unless you feel comfortable disassembling your slide yourself (not too hard) but if not most dealers are gunsmiths and can do the entire service for you if you desire....Good luck and let us know how it turns out and again, welcome aboard!

    Birdsong Black T seems intriguing.

Looks like they would charge around 80$ to do my slide only.

I had a DLC PM45 as a carry piece that showed no wear. I am very impressed with with DLC durability. So a few years ago I contacted the local ion bond facility about blackening my other Kahrs. They only coated aero and auto parts and had me call the east coast facility that coated firearms. They wanted me to send the parts to a Washington State dealer then he would send the parts in. I wasn’t interested in my parts making four cross country trips. Anyway, I found this company http://www.jabuie.com/ionbond.html will do the work. I may send a Kahr slide or two to to them.

That sounds really great too. Which surface treatment will look most like a Factory Diamond Coated Kahr though?

I've only had a couple of slides redone and a few Kahr magazines done in black to match the pistols. These guys do awesome work and Spring Sale going on right now. http://www.ccrrefinishing.com/pricing.html
