Default P380 recoil spring set up.

I prefer both ends to be captive for easier installation. I've had other handguns with the set up like P380 and never had a an issue but for some reason, I'm having difficulty with installing it. I can't get the rod to get past the springs into the hole. After awhile I do get it in correctly but it takes a lot of tries.
    What am I doing wrong?

BTW, only two malfunctions in just over 100 rounds. Probably do to getting used to the long trigger pull and odd trigger feel first shot.

Joeb, for the springs. It gets easier with practice and also as the springs get 'tired'. Be sure to align the two loose spring ends toward the top of the slide. In other words they should be at 6 o'clock as you try to get the rod in. This seems to make it easier to do. It can still require some fanangling but you'll get it!

If I recall correctly somebody here used a dowel about the size of the recoil spring rod and inserted that through the front of the slide to keep the spring aligned. I know they can be a wrestling match sometimes.

Actually the cut end of the springs should be at 180 degrees .

    Sarcasm ?
