I think he probably meant to say they polished his extractor, there is often times a benefit to that, I see no positive influence in polishing the ejector. It's just a solid almost non moving block that the case slams into when the slide come back. The extractor having to ride over the case rim on the other hand might hang up if it was rough.
As part of my looking cool at all times methodology I totally agree with the polish it plan regardless. Course polishing the ejector is like chrome valve covers, nobody see's it unless the hood is up unless of course you don't have a hood which is kind of cool in itself.

I thought the 1/4 resistance thing was by the barrel lug pivoting on the take down pin.

My K40 used to have the same resistance just before battery. I thought it was a tight barrel lockup. It stopped doing that after break-in. Another reason why these little pistols are so accurate!

The last range trip with the K9 was horrible. Failures to lock open, to feed, and one stovepipe, and racking the slide was unusually difficult. I cleaned it and installed the Lakeline guide rod this morning and ran snap caps through it, and it was smooth. But it was smooth before, too, so I won't know if it's working well till the next range trip. When I sprayed out the frame with Brakleen, an alarming quantity of brass dust came out. So if it's not running right after this, it's going to Woostah for some TLC.
