Default How did Kahr get its name?

I just read a really old thread describing how Kahr pistols got the name "Kahr".

    Interesting.

Story I heard is when Justin Moon designed his new pistol back in the 90’s he wanted a brand name that sounded like a German company so people would associate them with high quality firearms....May not be correct but sounds logical to me......

    That is correct.

Yep, that was pretty much the gist of the thread. Came to light when Mr. Moon was being interviewed by Massad Ayoob, according to yore.

Someone, muggsy I think, opined that Justin Moon was trying to avoid naming it Moon
because of the connotation with the saying "shoot the moon" . He picked Kahr because it sounded German and therefore German Quality (burn the toast and scrape it).

Honestly, I kinda like Kia. Kia K-9 sorta rolls off your tongue.

    And it worked..!!
I'll admit to being ignorant about the brand's origins back in the day and given the appearance of the Kahr handguns, + the name...I had the "impression" that they were European. That didn't affect my buying decision, but it if polled back then about the origins before I actually got one in my hand to examine, I would have responded "European".

I'd heard that, in addition to the above, he liked motorsports.

I already have a KIA - a Nero EV. No moon roof though.
