"It seems EDC gun now are becoming more of a "Combat" firearm than Practical EDC. I am convinced the Kahr CM9 etc. remains one of the best out there. Light weight, smallest in size and again a fantastic trigger. Maybe in the future, the way things are going we will need a good combat carry. But not quite there yet."

I've survived combat operations on three continents in my life. When I have gone into places where a gunfight was likely I carried a Browning Hi-Power or full size Government model Colt 45 auto.
EDC in the continental US of A is a whole different situation, or at least it has been most of my life. That might be changing and I'll feel the need to bring the Hi-Power or Mark IV Series 70 .45 out of retirement again. I hope not, but the civil environment in America has definitely become less safe.
My practice routine with the handguns I use for EDC is 90 % Close, Fast and with no "sighting" beyond getting the front sight into the middle of the target. The target is a blank sheet of 11x17 copy paper btw. I don't use my purpose built shooting glasses with lenses ground for iron sight shooting since I won't have them on me at that moment when I need my sidearm to save my life or the life of another. About 10% of my range time is spent on longer shots, using the sights just to establish in my mind what my capabilities are with my EDC handgun for aimed shooting should I ever have time to aim. There's no question that in those situations, a red dot would be a real benefit. As I mentioned earlier..I have one on my T/C Contender and well aimed, tight groups are easily attainable.
For most of my "up close and personal" practice however....THIS GUY is in the back of my mind screaming...QUICKLY..QUICKLY..QUICKLY..!!!!!!

I agree. I practice with one side of a paper grocery bag, no markings. I usually carry a 380 so I put six in it as fast as I can. If I ever have to shoot at a bad guy I hope he is wearing a light brown sweater.

My favorite target is two 10 inch paper plates taped to a cardboard backing one about 15 inches above the other at 7 to 10 yards. 2 shots on the bottom plate and one on the top plate as fast as I can.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

    ROTFLMAO..!!!
Done with the morning coffee or that could have cost me a keyboard..!!
Someone asked me why I’m shooting at a plain, 11x17 unmarked sheet of copy paper. I held one against his torso with the top edge just under his neck.
“ OH..!” Was all he said. Lottsa folks ‘round here in plain white “ T’s”.

On a recent bike ride with my wife & daughter, we chanced upon this at the Bay Trail Visitor's Center . . . hadn't seen one in so long that I felt compelled to take a picture.

Wow, that is pretty rare, hadn't thought about it much but I can't remember the last time I saw one. Wonder if it works.

    What is it?

muggsy: Let's face it, being shot by a .380 will ruin anyone's day.

I'd very much like to try the Sig P365 XL but just can't justify the cost. A friend has one, loves it, I'll try it at some point.

Right now the only autos I'm carrying are both .45's. One is the Kahr CW45 and the other is a 1911.

I go out into the back yard and hang a 10" reactive target on a dead tree. 7 yards. 10 yards. I hang it about chest high. Sometimes, I just pick a dead tree that hasn't been shot at, and empty a mag. I've always liked the suggestion that has been mentioned here numerous times. Start at the waist and just let the firearm rise up on its own. For defensive purposes, I carry either a Ruger SP101 in .357 or my .40 H&K. That shooting theory works well with those calibers imho...............................
