I worked at an Arco station in 1973 for a couple years. Regular was 28 cents a gallon and premium was 32. We were the highest price in town and people would drive off ticked due to high price. Unleaded was brand new and we seldom even unlocked the pump. Only one customer with his Mazda Rotary bought the stuff.
This was all full service too. Wash windows, check oil, tires, whole ball of wax.

Yeah, it may have been closer to early 1974 during the oil embargo crap ... and the beginning of the enviro-whacko attacks on our own oil and gas industry. I got married to my first wife in early January of 1973 (well ... actually still married to her), so that particular time period kinda gets mixed up.
