Default Striker protrudes out of breech

I picked up a new pm-9 and went read through the manual cleaned and did the safety check on the striker as per the manual. With the slide off I pulled the striker back 1/4 inch and released it. The striker protruded from breech which according to the manual is not correct. Posted pictures of my slide and safety check from manual. I called Kahr and they said to fill out an RMA online and they would send me an authorization number. I filled it out but have not received an RMA yet from Kahrr. It's been about 5 days. Has anyone seen this in any of their Kahr PM9 or other models. Thanks Craig

There's a plunger on the bottom of the slide that I believe is the drop safety. If it is not depress the striker will not move forward. When you depress it you should be able to hear (if you have better hearing than me) the slide rattle.
With the striker back it should not move forward unless that plunger is depress which the slide accomplishes under normal firing.

It is clear to me what you are describing. The striker block functions as it should. The striker is fully extended after a trigger pull that is used to remove the slide. It's when I pull the striker back a quarter inch to reengage the striker block the striker does not clear the breach all the way. It also doesn't rattle in the fire position as my Glock 19 does. Mine is being held under spring tension whether forward after a trigger pull or locked by the striker block. According to the manual when you pull the striker back a quarter inch it locks into place and should not protrude from the breach as mine does.
    Thanks Craig

Were it me I'd load two rounds and shoot it to see if the second round goes off on cycle. We've heard of protruding strikers before but it always turned out to be a non issue.

Your sounds different in that you mention spring tension. Sounds like a trip back to Kahr might be the safest route. Just have to know it's right. Myself I'd have to try a couple rounds just to know. But it's probably safest not to listen to me.

Do let us know how this all shakes out.

I wonder if we could incorporate the pencil trick as a means of testing. Take a pencil with a good square eraser, with the gun verified empty and ready to fire, point it straight up with the pencil down the barrel. Pull the trigger and hold it back. The pencil should have flown out. Without releasing the trigger rack the slide and put the pencil back down the barrel, nope, I'm thinking this just isn't gonna work. Would have to have some primed empty cases to see if the second one fires on lock up.

Show me 10-10 on the side pondering.

Im with Bawanna right here. None of my 5 Kahrs I own at the moment have the striker protruding from the breech face after the striker is pulled back unless the striker block is depressed.
The only thing better than having all the guns and ammo you'd ever need would be being able to shoot it all off the back porch.

Greetings! Are you saying with the striker block up (not depressed), you can pull the striker back, release it, and the tip protrudes into the breech?

    Yes, that is correct.

    It passes the pencil test.

I'm thinking once I finally get in an RMA number from Karh it'll be quite a while before I get the gun back since it's been 5 days and no RMA yet.

Never hurts to follow up, you might have got lost in the system. I'd send another email just like the first requesting the RMA.

Called Kahr. They said the email went out same day. Check my SPAM folder and it was there. FedEx was supposed to send a label at cars request but it never came. Mark at Kahr immediately sent a label. Now I have to navigate the crazy California gun laws for shipping firearms especially here in the San Francisco Bay Area. Will call the gun shop I purchase the gun from as they may have to ship it back.
