I have decided to get a .40. But not which make/model. I'm browsing gunbroker for a K40 but, will check out other makes/models (used) at LGS.

So...there is this K40 on GB, has a strange (to me) finish. It was listed with a starting bid of 399.99 and no one bid on it. I think based on the Serial number compared to the article on here, it is from around 1998. I asked for pictures of the slide bottom, and it has the dimple that implies new style sites. When did they change? Any how, I bid on it.

I'm watching it as well. Not a bad price with both sets of grips.

November of 2004 was when they changed dovetail angles.

Oddly GlockTalk has a pretty good sampling of Kahr Serial Numbers. Here are a few

    DB04XX - K40 - Feb 1996 matte stainless
    DB11xx - K40 - Jun 1997
    DF04xx - K40 - 1998
    DF08xx - K40 - 1998
    DF17xx - K40 - date unknown
    DF28xx - K40 - Aug 1998
    DF33xx - K40 - 1998
    DF50xx - K40 - Jul 2004
    DF66xx - K40 - Date unknown - Purchased Jan 2012
    DJ02xx - K40 - 1998
    DJ0xxx - K40 Elite 98 - Jun 2003

The thread is here, https://www.glocktalk.com/threads/ka...oject.1332374/, and you don't need to log in to see it.

That auction on GB already ended once with no bids. Good luck!

Well...the K40 sold for more than I wanted to pay.

Just ordered a Rock Island Armory 1911 Rock Ultra FS Black .40SW 5" Barrel 8-Rounds Adjustable Sights. From Grab-a-gun. I used the quote request and got 15.00 of asking. $571 vs 586. I have two other RIA 1911's, so I know them.
Typically the run well, but have a few sharp edges and such. Plus I already have LOTS of 1911 holsters. I had $100 rebate from RIA for a shotgun I bought at Christmas, used that to buy 2 more mags and an extra recoil spring. 20# vs the typical 16#.

Nice looking gun. And the right size for the 40 caliber.

So...I picked up the .40SW 1911. I bought a GI model RIA about 10 years ago, it was my truck gun, it ran great, but was loose and had lots of sharp edges, only cost about $350. This new one is way more better. Tighter fit, better fit and finish. Feels great. I will be testing her out on March 2nd, (my next range day). Feed back to follow. First impression is "why do the skeletonize the trigger?"

I think it's mostly looks, but also adds weight reduction.
