All is well at the Jacksonville homestead. We had wind up to 40 MPH or so and only 1/4" of rain. We could have used more rain... been very dry here.

I just have to pick up the light yard debris and get it ready for the removal Saturday. Our regular day was Wednesday, but everything shut down.

The generator works great and I have plenty of gas for the season... 15+ gallons in the gen' and 40 in cans. That $4.65 a gallon ethanol-free stuff is expensive, but 89 octane and runs great.

I remember those punch cards. My mom was a programmer back in the early 70's and used to bring the discarded cards for me and my brothers to play with. I never understood why, though. She tried to explain what they were and what they were used for. Still didn't understand. Calculators weren't out on the market yet, only slide rules.

I went to work for AT&T in 1984 and they offered a punch card programming course free of charge at the local tech school so I signed up thinking that this stuff is the future and will get me ahead in my career if I study up on it so I went for night classes……After a week I realized I wasn’t anywhere near smart enough for this insane stuff so I gave up and quit……Move forward 40 years later and I’m still working for the same company and with all the technology out today, I’m more confused than ever……….

I took a Fortran course in 1983 and we used punch cards.
