Light Bulb Not Giving Up on Old Guns

I've only sold two guns in my lifetime.
Ruger 10/22 and a HK SS USPc 45.
Years later I bought a second replacement SS USPc 45.
Now even if I don't warm up to a gun I tend to hang on to it.
Later revisiting it hoping I can change something that will make things better.
Grips, triggers, sights - bla bla bla ...

My latest not so favorite guns I'm revisiting?

    Default Ruger LCP

Loved the grips, feel, natural pointability and effortless carry of the gun.
But even after +200 rounds down range it still had sporadic FTF even on FMJs.
Just didn't trust the gun for concealed carry (and that's what I bought it for).
After reading about how great Ruger Customer Service is - I decided to give them a chance.
They agreed to repair for free and even asked what defensive loads I ran!!!
Got the gun back quickly with a new barrel and some other internal parts.
And Ruger successfully function checked the gun with Hornady XTP Custom JHPs!
    Color Me Impressed

Recently put the little monster through it's paces at the range and WOW!
    This thing Rocks!
Couldn't be happier with this gun.
So happy I've ordered the unofficial Gen 3 SS LCP as a backup.

Update: Showed my Dad and Mom my old LCP during a porkchop BBQ today.
Told my Dad I liked it so much I ordered a second one - LOL!
He liked it so much he wants one too - Second Gen 3 SS LCP ordered

Default TALO Special Edition Glock Gen 3 G27

One of my early guns bought was a TALO Special Edition Glock Gen 3 G27 40 S&W.
Bought it as a "Test Bed" for various calibers, barrels, triggers, grips, sights ...
Have six barrels in three calibers, finishes and four lengths (including one ported).
All kinds of OEM and third party trigger connectors, springs ...
Three types of NS and mags, mags, mags.

6K down the pipe in 9/357/40 I learned a lot about firearms (and myself) with that gun.
But inexplicably it started having sporadic FTFs with FMJs in all calibers with all barrels!
Also, to add insult to injury, developed the dreaded Block Brass to Face Syndrome
Three trips to three different gunsmiths for correction with no joy.

    In a last ditch effort.
Finally decided to go full 9mm only and throw the kitchen sink at the gun.
    1) Apex SS Failure Resistant Extractor.
    2) OEM Glock Gen 4 Ejector.
    3) White Sound Defense High Reliability Extractor Depressor (H.R.E.D.)™ Plunger Assembly.
    4) Wolff guide rod and recoil spring (standard power).
Limited initial function testing showed improved ejection (less Brass to Face) and reliability with FMJs.

Finally, was reading that Glock Perfection may have finally solved the infamous Brass to Face malady!
Reports of the new OEM Gen 5 Ejector may be the vaccine.

The Gen 5 Ejector arrives tomorrow.
And I've got a boatload of Federal HST 124 gr +P ammo just waiting to be touched off!
This thing sports a Match Grade Storm Lake barrel and was an absolute tack driver with 124 gr ammo.
Really want this gun to work!
Will report later on the results (Everyone wish me Luck!)

Update: Brass to Face is Gone!

Light Bulb Dan Wesson SS V-Bob 45

This gun was meant to scratch that 1911 itch.
Wanted a Wilson Combat CQB 45.
Rented one several times and loved it.
But I've never been able to get over the price of admission.
    Rented Kimbers several times.
    All were tack drivers.
    None were reliable

Was thinking about a Springfield TRP.
But dreaming of a Ed Brown Kobra Carry!

Came across a deal on a SS Dan Wesson V-Bob (very much like the Kobra Carry) @ $1,500.
Can field strip with no tools right out of the box
    Fit and finish is fantastic.
DW recommends 200 round break in.
I shot 100 FMJs and then 100 HSTs the first time out.
Slide failed to lock back one time on the first 100 FMJs.
    I'm OK with that.
But the accuracy wasn't what I expected from a 1911?
I'm sure it's me and not the gun.

    Second Chance:
Never shot the gun with the shipped slim G10 grips.
Went strait to slim custom wood.
I've got small hands, but this gun just doesn't feel right to me.
Both sets of grips are just too thin and don't fill my hands

Just put a new set of
VZ Tactical Slants Palm Swell - Full-Size Grips
and it feels like a new gun!,
I'll be shooting next week and will report back
