When I was around 6 our neighbor drove an early 60’s VW bus and a beatle and I thought they were the coolest cars on earth…….My father said that anyone who owned one of those foreign cars was obviously a red communist and told me not to talk to them…….

The early 60’s was a strange time to grow up in but we had great music, drive in movies and really good TV cartoons to watch in the afternoons after our school teacher showed us how the best way to survive a thermonuclear blast was to get under our desks and place our hands over our heads……
