Default One More off the Short List

Today I became the happy owner of a very lightly used 1996 vintage Ruger Super Red Hawk .44 mag. It was lightly used, but obviously never, ever cleaned - inside or out. I spent about three hours detail stripping it and cleaning it tonight, so might have to make a quick trip to the range tomorrow to re-install some new grime. The recessed grip frame on the SRH actually makes it possible for my longitudinally challenged fingers to be able to operate this version of "big-boy gun", so one more slot in my collection quest is now filled. Obviously the Lee Carbide 4 Die Set is now on the shopping list

Moving real close to the 59 year age group, I figure I've got to own and shoot as many of these bone jarring masterpieces as I can.... while I still can.

Good for you. Ah, the joys of a new gun and new caliber to load for.

I know it sounds bizarre.
Ok, maybe not coming from me - LOL!
But I really like Pachmayr's Compac grips on my Magnums.
And that includes my S&W 4" 629-2 44 Magnum Mountain gun.
I highly recommend them.

Have a SBH 50th Anniversary 7 1/2 inch barrel. Great Gun. Congrats. Try a FEW Corbon or Buffalo Bore hard cast heavy loads. They say they will punch thru a full grown griz. I dont know about that. No Griz in S. Illinois. But you sure do know your shooting a BIG BOY GUN.

Life is short. You are doing the right thing.

I have seen too many people in the generation before me put things off to do "later" but then end up unable ever to do them.

My father, now gone, introduced me to firearms when I was a kid, but then I went decades as a "city kid" if you know what I mean. I am trying to make up for some of that lost time time. I am following closely behind you it seems.

OK, I've got shopping to do!

Boom, Boom....it's gonna be a keeper

I decided to leave it unscoped for now and picked up a Bianchi holster for it tonight. I was looking for a pocket holster or ankle holster, but there were none to be found. Next will be loading dies and components.

Although it's somewhat blasphemous.
One secret sweetness of the big 44 Magnum revolver
is it's ability the throw 44 Specials like a cool summer breeze.
