I've had the urge to get one. They are only $119 at the EXPENSIVE gun shop and they have already cleaned them up for the buyer.

But I would want a bent bolt handle and a $800 scope. I want to try the 1000 yards and I cant see that far with my eyes. I guess that would make the rifle an accessory for the scope instead of the other way around.

$119 already cleaned? that's a deal. I'm still cleaning this one. It's better but it's still oozing from all sorts of places.

Better photos to follow in daylight and all cleaned up.

Buy two Nagants and four tins of ammo along with one box of cleaning supplies.

You are now ready for the Zombie Apocalypse...

Even if it fails to happen in fifty more years.

We may well end up with two. My son is so enamored with it he's going to buy one. He's got his heart set on a Colt AR and is saving his pennies (hopefully he'll have a career soon) but he wants one of these as a toy and stand in SHTF gun until he can buy what he wants.

Thanks!
Popeye, you're partly to blame for this one. Read your post and decided to pull the trigger.

Ammo should arrive today. Range trip scheduled for tomorrow.
Just about have all the gunk cleaned out and gave it a good EZEOX all over.
Will see how this goes.

Likely going to keep this one as Little Josef Vissarionovich originally intended, but we'll see.

Well, Ammo showed up a little early. My son had to pull a 1900-0700 shift on the ambulance so he conned me into ripping up to the range and trying the Izhevsk out before he had to bug out.

Since it had been checked out I was pretty confident it would be ok, but still had some nervous butterflies.

Tried loading from the clips the ammo shipped on. No go. Manually loaded the first 5.

All I can say is WOW!! Talk about kicking like a mule. A Russian Mule (мул). Holy crap. I was sitting at a bench on a block. It kicked my ever lovin behind.

I stood up and it was loads better but still painful. I was tucked in tight and good stance but WOW this thing kicks butt. Did ok on the 50yd range. I saw and hit the paper. I'm ok with that. There's no way you go to the range and rip through 100rnds of this stuff.

Here's some iPhone pics of the kid shooting it. More to follow of the old man as soon as the kid sends em to me.

Kicks huh? Maybe I should leave mine in wall hanger status, I got a low pain threshold you know?

I've heard that you notice right off if there's a misfire and they kick some.

I'm gonna have to try it, I'll probably cry but I just gotta know, ya know?
