I know what they say about opinions, but as we have said for a while, this board seems to be a sharper bunch. I ended up with a free Pacific 12g reload press. I know very little about reloading other than the single stage RCBS that my FIL and I load our hunting ammo with (and it is really his and stays at his house, so I am even further in the dark). It seems to be a multi carousel for lack of a better term as you can see in the attached pics. With them, I got two boxes of dies and bushings. I know the red one is shell conditioner, but is the Pacific worth keeping? Thanks for the input!

What the hell, the price was right. You've got nothing to lose. I've seen some very good loads produced on a cheap plastic Lee Load-All. Yours is a multi-station loader. You can probably download the instructions from their website. Reloading shot shells is child's play.

It actually has some similarities to the Lee Load All. Much more skookum. If you have all the bushings and dies you should be able to crank out good rounds. Shotgun isn't nearly as precise, tolerances are much more forgiving.

I have a Pownsness Warren, actually a single and a progressive. Ran the heck out of the single in an earlier life. Got the progressive and they shut down my favorite range. Bad timing.

I can't even fake knowing much about shotgun reloading, its been a long time.

Bawanna, I have some shot and powder bushings for a PW 20 ga. progressive loader. If you can use them you can have them. I sold that loader years ago and found the bushings in a drawer recently.

I surly appreciate the offer but I'm only set up for 12ga. You remember what a fine loader it was though huh?

I don't know if they are still made anymore or not.

I should dust em off and run them some I guess. Like to find a good shotgun range. Dang we need more ranges.

I believe that the shot and powder bushings can be used in either 12 or 20 ga loaders interchangeably. An ounce of shot is still and ounce of shot. The twelve gauge press can be converted to 20 by simply changing the dies. The PW was/is the Rolls Royce of shot shell presses. I sold mine when I got out of trap shooting.

Reloading shotshells is a fairly straightforward process... what makes it easy is there is very little variation you can do in the process. Everything relies on the hulls you have to load... and they are not, in most cases, interchangeable. Pick up a few shotshell reloading manuals (most are free at the gun shops, it's just a phamplet) and see if the hulls you have line up with a load you wish to shoot.

Because the hull is a fixed length, the powder/wad/shot combination has to perfectly stack up in the hull to where the crimp is applied.

If you are looking for shotshells to hunt or just casually bash clays with, you are probably better off just buying a few boxes of whatever is on sale at the store. If you shoot shotgun a lot, it may be worth looking into. A 25# bag of shot is almost $50 now, $20 for a pound of powder, 250 wads is about $10 and 209 primers are about $4-5 per 100, so you are looking at $100 in goodies before you pull the lever for the first time.

Wow, 50 bucks for a bag of shot? I guess its been awhile since I loaded. Don't recall what I paid but it wasn't near 50.

Me and the shooting buddy used to get enough stuff for 2000 loads. We did that about every three months. Shot nearly every Saturday and sometimes Sunday too. Really enjoyed it, wish there was a range like that nearby now.

Nice folks running it. Back before voice activated throwers. One of the trap boys (think thats what they called them) always saved us hulls.

Everyone liked the Winchester AA's but we used Peters Blue Magics which loaded exactly the same, same wads etc.

Usually a grocery sack full every weekend. Good ole days for sure.
