    Cool Old School

I've always been a Mossberg pump guy.
500 with a pistol grip and Federal Tactical slugs for a first gun.
Then upgraded to a 590 Shockwave with a 14" Heavy Barrel.
Added a 590-A1 aluminum trigger group, Vang Comp speed safety, SX Big Dot front sight, 400 lumen tactical light and Mesa Tactical side saddle.
With gunsmith pump action and trigger job.
It's loaded with full power Federal LE12700 1325 fps buckshot.
I've patterned the gun with various loads and that Flight Control Federal stuff is amazing!

Lots of rounds, big variety, never ever malfunctioned - what a surprise LOL!

Nice scatters there King! Was looking at the shorty shells featured in the American Rifleman and got me wanting a semi-auto. I’m skeered of cycling issues though. Don’t want to get something I have to put a buncha bux into to get it to run the shorties. Gotta do more research. Looks like you got your stuff figured/sorted out well.

Here is a under rated shot 20" barrel that I fell in love with. Started using it for deer hunting about 4 years ago. And I have put a lot of ammo through this gun. A lot of buckshot doing all kinds of different patterns with different loads. It is very quick to pull up for a fast running deer. I prefer the single trigger because it is fast and the GREAT thing about this is the ability to change out chokes. I have a number of after market chokes that I use. Turkey/Deer etc. You can really reach out with the Chokes. Lol, even use a Fastlane to shoot 20ga. Inertia simplistic. No fancy engraving, utilitarian, No ejectors just extractor. Nice Turkish Walnut stock.(Beretta/Mobile chokes)

By the way, the guy in the video above is one heck of a shot. There use to be a Youtube of him shooting a aspirin off a wooden post with a Beretta Nano.

My 88 has run as it should from the first shot. My problem with most every long gun is my short arms. The only 2 add/changes was an adjustable, recoil reducing butt stock and a slip on Limb Saver.

Have you thought about cutting the stock down? I know a few folks that have bought the Bantam.

Doesn't Mossberg make a junior size also. Used to be you bought the Junior and when the time came they would send you a full size buttstock. Might be too short. Probably a bunch of them out there laying around. I too prefer a short stock, most factory stocks are too long for me.

Youth long guns generally fit me correctly. At the time I wanted a home defense 12 gage and I knew that the adjustable recoil reducing butt stock for the 500 would fit the 88. I looked at cutting the stock one but I felt it wouldn’t work for me. At that time there wasn’t much for replacement butt stocks for shotguns. Now days I could go a number of different ways.

Gosh I love this gun. Had it out this PM. What a versatile shotgun. I shot just about everything. All kinds of buck shot, bird shot, and a lot of 20ga buck. The four Buck did really nice groups with a Improved cylinder choke. at 7-10 yds. (Federal Premium Personal Defense 4 buck 24 pellets using a 20ga adapter) Also shoots the Shortie slugs with tight groups with a modified choke. We were shooting a lot of 00 buck of various brands at 25 yds and great groups. I took some pic's will post later this week. Recoil is mild on this gun even with high velocity 12 ga 00 buck. Also easy to shoot from the hip like a Shockwave. 20" barrel.
