One symptom of cataracts was seeing a black dot when looking through peep sights. But I didn’t really know till an older eye doc who knew what he was doing looked and saw them.
The operation was so uneventful, I’d almost volunteer to do it again. Zero pain. No real discomfort, quick outpatient surgery, but eyedrops for a couple months or so. And no rides in warbirds.
I opted for lenses of fixed focus, for close up vision, so I wear bifocals to drive with the bottom part zero correction.

I had this surgery on both eyes back in 2011. I had started wearing glasses about five years earlier and reading glasses for years. Since the surgery, no glasses at all, not even for reading. They waited two months between the two eyes in case something went wrong. It was fairly expensive, $7000 for both eyes, but Kaiser paid $6300 and I only had a bill for $700. I would advise it for anyone.
BTW, no pain at all, but I did have to use drops for two months.
