    Default Front strap checkering

Has anyone ever had their MK's front strap checkered or know who does the work? I sometimes carry a 1911 and the front strap is checkered. Just curious.

I would think the cost would be more than the actual value gained, but they certainly add to the looks of the gun IMO, especxially on a MK or K kahr..

Over twenty years ago, I busted a 1/8 inch center drill. Center drills are tough stuff. What to do what to do.....

What I ended up doing was taking a piece of one inch stainless bar stock, and drilled it for a brass bushing. Then I put the center drill in the whirly-jig and put that on the surface grinder. Ground a nice 60 degreee nose on the center drill. Press fit that into the bushing, and I've been using it ever since for stippling.

I find a heavy stippling punch is the best to use.... and I've stippled at least twenty Government Model frames and a few CZ's and Ruger Mark II's with it.

    Default Wilson FAKE checkering job

Well, I got the Wilson fake checkering aluminum piece to try on my 1911 and decided to try to make it work on my MK9. I modified the item to fit using a round punch and I think it turned out pretty good. I have attached pics.
