Thumbs down Losing faith?

My P45 is my first Kahr. And it may be my last I might not even keep it. I'll take whatever money I can get out of it and by the Glock 36 which I should have done in the first place. While at the range today P45 did everything you would not want a gun to do. I can't depend on it. Slide stop lever comes out first round. Won't feed any hollow points. Instead of picking on this piece of junk, I will instead say------- "SHAME! On you Karh Arms for allowing this to go on. I shouldn't have to send any gun back because is is a POS! There. Said it. Oh well. At least I have my old trust worthy Glock 26, Kimber Ultra Eclipse, and Xd(M) 3.8 .40 cal. Oh! Come to think of it! All my other guns performed flawlessly right out of the box. 500 rounds through the Kahr. 500 aggravating rounds that is.

Give Kahr a chance to make it right. My CW45 wouldn't reset the trigger after firing it, so I sent it in to Kahr, on their dime, and they had it back to me working perfectly in exactly 7 days. Haven't had a problem with it since.

I hear you and I have felt your pain too. I know you are a shooter but I found with my P40 that 90% of the problems were from me. My mits were all over this gun and causing malfunctions. Also I found you have to really hold on them too or FTF will occur. I dont consider my P40 a good range gun because I get tired quickly from shooting it and the problems start.

Please give us details on what the gun does or doesnt do and I know guys here can help.

The slide lock lever could be something as simple as tightening the torx screw that holds the little spring in place on the frame. Do not over tighten or you will strip it though. Also did you prep this gun as per the sticky in the general section? IT does make a diff.

Basically most agree that they should run well out of the box but these guns need a little TLC first before throwing in the towel. You have a lot of firepower in a very small package that keeps reminding me how nice that is when I carry it around all day and it doesnt feel like an anchor by the end of the day or when I dress up and holster it and it doesnt stick out screaming "GUN".

Welcome to the forum WarLoc! That's quite a first post with frustration abounding.

Kahrs require break in as do most new guns no matter the price point. However you cannot just carry it to the range and start shooting expecting positive results. We have a thread in Kahr-Tech called Proper Prep of your new Kahr. It includes instruction for the initial cleaning and a lube chart showing critical areas requiring lube - before the first shots. Hand racking is also urged to get the very first rubbing of metal to metal done.

Kahrs are very tight fitting and generate a lot of friction during break in which slows down the slide causing numerous feed fails. Properly cleaned and lubed generally takes care of that. Other issues can be caused by limp wristing which is obvious if your support hand comes off the grip when shooting.

Finally, don't attempt breakin with weak range ammo. It doesn't have to be SD rounds but at least try a box of excellent factory ammo. If all is failing and that corrects it you will know.

I do hope you follow up with all this and try again. Be sure to let us know how it goes.

So warloc, tell us how you really feel.

Hey, I noticed that you don't have a S&W. I just bought my second S&W and while the gun shoots there is a potential life altering problem with the gun. It is going back to S&W tomorrow or within the next few days for them to make it right. Did I call it a POS, no, did I rant, no, just tried to find out WTH. I did not find out the actual problem with the exception of being able to load a 357 into a 38 Special cylinder. S&W definitely wants to see the gun, in fact their upper management wants to see the gun.

So will you post the same on multiple forums? Or try to find out exactly what the problem is?

Just what I was thinking. I wonder how much if any experience he has previous to this with a semi auto. warloc I have seen out of the box Glocks with missing pieces. So NO firearm company is perfect all the time.

Can only say Kahr replaced a frame and slide for me, all expenses theirs, and the pistol has been 100 percent flawless since. PM45 it was. Based on that, I bought another, used, and a PM9j used. Both, all three actually, function flawlessly.

The motto I got for you Warloc is that shooters may give up on Kahr, but Kahr does not give up on shooters. You bought a world class "sportscar" of concealed carry, it may need a little tweakage.

The slide stop coming out - the spring for that not all that easy to mess up, but if you do... its gonna do that. Kahr will make it right. Feeding... mine does hollow points, but I choose to carry FMJ. I've found the Kahr sort of prefers short rounds, will not tolerate anything even a slight bit longer than it should be, especially compared to 1911's which like long rounds. Go figure.

Read the friendly manual *** The notch in the rail is supposed to be there (so quit askin' about it!) *** If you ever have to manually extract an empty case from an auto-loaders chamber, don't shoot again until you've checked for bore obstructions.

way to much time spend on this guy, IMO not worth it, he will peddle the POS and move on off this forum and then maybe we can get down to what this forum was started for. To help shooters who come here with the right attitude for help and advice, for we do admit kahr's are not issue immune, course my fantastic G19 had to go back once and I sure don't have any ill feelings about it either and I paid to send it back by the way.Sh-t happens
