Default CM9 RSA catching on slide

Hello,
I'm new to the forum. I picked up my CM9 a couple weeks ago and so far so good. I owned a PM9 about a year ago but sold it off. I missed it's size and the CM9's price was perfect for me to get another Kahr. I've been to the range and ran some FMJ and Corbon DPX (my carry load) thru it to make sure it worked well. It has been 100% so far. My PM9 was far from that. Anyways, I notice that when I rack the slide the second stage of the recoil assembly catches the inside of the slide and makes the slide not rack smoothly. I don't recall this being the case with my PM9. I remember that gun being smooth to rack back and forth by hand. Is this common with the CM9? Should I call Kahr to see if they can send me another RSA?

Thanks for the help.

Have you tried to rack the gun without the RSA in? You can't see inside the gun so I was wondering how you came up with your diagnosis

I did just that. I took out the recoil spring assembly and it was smooth. I can see the the recoil assembly getting caught while racking the slide back slowly. It is smooth for 1/2 the pull, then it gets harder to pull, I keep pulling and then the second section finally goes thru and the slide goes the rest of the way back.

u stated the gun is working fine, so wy mess with it. possably this copuld be happening though. take the RSA out of the gun and now reverse tha toutter spring and see if it slide sup and down on that outter recoil tube. It should run smoothly up and down. If ot then I think tha toutter open tip is inward to far and grabbingon that outter tube somewhat. take a pair of pliers and just open up that outter open tip and test againonce it goes up and down smoothly, then lube the outter tube and shoot it like u stole it.

If that does not cure it, call kahr and just ask for another RSa and state ur reasoning. no need to send it back esxpecialy if it is working OK I doubt if kahr will pay to have the gun sent back when it is working OK
