Remington Golden Saber Bonded 230-gr .45 ACP
I just ordered 4 boxes of 50 each for $34.45 a box plus shipping came to $155.07 from M.A.H. Supplies:
http://www.prestostore.com/cgi-bin/s...5202&pd=303261
This is the bonded LE version of 230-grain Golden Sabers. It looked like the best deal on defense ammo -- price AND availability -- that I could find. I wanted the new Winchester "Talon" ammo, but all that was available at that Patriot place was the +P version -- decent price, but I wanted standard pressure for my "little" PM45. My other .45 defense ammo is the GS 230-gr with the same ballistics, but not bonded. For info, the regular is GS45APB and the bonded/LE version is GSB45APB.
I saw one place asking $71.99 a box plus shipping! This is about right for what you'd pay per 25-round box locally or in a gun show -- $35 to $40+ a 25-round box! Ballistics: 875 fps/391ft-lbs at the muzzle of a 5" barrel ~ maybe 800 fps from the PM45.

I picked up some of the GS 230gr too and a few boxes of the 185gr +P just to compare. I think the 185 +P is cruising at 1100fps and 500ft lbs. Thats gonna leave a mark! I'll post my impressions/comments when I get to the range in a few weeks.

I've never liked anything but the 230-grain bullets, though I've never tried them little girlie-sized ones. they might be better in these lighter guns, but I want the traditional heavy-weight. I decided that I didn't want to try the +P ones or I would have bought those Ranger Talons at Patriots -- the only thing they had in stock for the .45.
I used to worry about keeping the same ballistics with ammo because it made a difference when I was target shooting and trying to hit the same hole. Now I'm shooting so close that I'm happy just to hit the silhouette when I'm firing as soon as I get close to the center of the target... jerking too often, though. If I stop or slow down and take my time aiming and pulling the trigger, the shot goes POA, usually, but a bad guy ain't gonna give you all that time. It sure ain't like shooting a nice big revolver single-action from a rest. At least with the PM45, the sucker will know he's hit... if I nail him a couple of times -- much better than the .22 TPH.
Later.

Yeah, she was waiting on me. We had a good meal and she has some leftovers which she likes, including a loaf of their bread.
And yeah, widdle girlie-sized instead of the real MAN-sized 230-grain standard loads.(See avatar)

I'm not sure, but I dont think I want to be hit with one of those 185 +P "girlie" loads that leaves a 3/4" diameter hole. Then again, it may depend on on my estrogen levels.

Wow! Here i can't find any of the LEO Golden Saber bonded GSB45APB
I have several boxes of the new Ranger Talon. If interested I would trade you even-up, one box of Ranger Talon 45ACP (RA45T) for one box of GSB45APB. I am only interested in the Bonded version.
If interested, drop me an email at gemailuser8@gmail.com
Thanks,

After I sprung for the Bonded GS, I saw the "Talon" ammo in 50-round boxes at the "good" gun show for about the same price -- ~$34 a box of 50, new stuff. I think the BGS for the .45 are enough performance. I am in the process of buying some "Talons" for my P380, cause $34 a box of 50 beats the heck out of $1+ per bullet for anything else... if you can find any SD ammo that cheap.
The "other" gun show is on this weekend and I'll check things out there. I'm afraid to tell my wife how much I've already spent and am in the process of spending, on ammo alone! Three centerfire pistol calibers is a bunch!
Dang! I need to get to Lowe's and get some yard stuff before watering this evening after 4PM.
