new slide style verse old

I tried searching this topic with no avail....when I look at the pics of the pm40 on the website it seems to have the old stlye sights/slide and so does my gun with a serial number in late 2008.

i assume the pm40 comes with the new slide at some point and they did not update their pics. if that is the case what is the benefit of the new slide, does it perform better?

I know that they changed the slides to accomidate a different sight cut, not sure if that's what you're talking about.
