Starbucks Support of Second Amendments Rights Petition (http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/starbucks-freedom-of-choice)

Starbucks has a history of supporting the legal carry of firearms by not turning away paying customers who carry, whether openly, or concealed. As a law abiding gun owner, and a Second Amendment supporter, I urge you to sign this petition to make Starbucks officials aware of our appreciation for their support. As private business owners, they have the right to turn us away, but have chosen to continue serving our needs.
Gun ownership is not criminal. Statistics show that lawful gun owners are one of the least likely groups to commit any crime, let alone violent crime. In the United States, many people carry concealed to protect themselves, their families, and others from violence and crime. In many states the practice of open carry is a legal and legitimate form of carry. Starbucks has recognized that this particular group of citizens have shown themselves to be responsible individuals who go about their everyday activities just as the rest of society, although more prepared to defend themselves. They recognize that as a whole, we, as lawful gun owners, are polite and professional, and do not go out of our way to offend or frighten the general public, and we are thankful for the recognition.
An anti gun entity has begun a campaign to force Starbucks to stop allowing firearms on their premises, while acknowledging their private property rights to allow or deny gun owners service. It is an attempt to circumvent Starbucks' right to choose in the interest of furthering their own agenda. It is an attempt to take away their freedom of choice. Please sign this petition to show your appreciation for Starbucks' support, and their right to choose. If you are a member, or an official, of an organization, please include the name of your organization in your signature.

Thank you for reading.

Bull. There isn't a single Starschmucks in this town that ISN'T posted.

They are NOT a pro carry company - they're a company that is after explosive expansion and profits, and will do whatever they need to do to continue funneling the profits in. There is no fortitude in that.

I'll take my Folgers, thanks :D

I`ve only been to two of them here in Dogpatch and there were no postings that I saw prohibiting carry. It may be up to the individual stores and their managers. If they do prohibit carry,I`ll find another place for coffee.Hell,I drink Folgers most of the time too.

I am not a big Starbucks fan as my favorite cup of coffee is just a a good strong cup of black coffee and I am not into any of the flavored coffees at all. There are several stores close to my home and work and I do stop in on occasion with the guys from work and I have never been in one here with anything posted. If they did have it posted, it would be my last trip there as I will not frequent anywhere that limits my rights at their discretion.

Precisely - they charge too much, it tastes like poop, and they do not have a pro-carry company policy.

No way I'm signing anything to send a message of support a company like that (on a side note, did you notice that the white house contact form allows you to pick only a non-issue comment, an issue comment, and a message of support - NOT a message of disapproval.)

Mike,

I think you may be wrong here on their policy, see the new thread started by Chief Joseph. And I am still happy to have signed the petition as I think the gun owner must support the businesses that support us.

How many people have you ever seen in Starbucks OPEN CARRYING?//I used to go there about every other day and other than LEO I have never seen that EVER. but I have no doubt many people who to in there are carrying concealed be there a sign or not. Common sense goes a long way in some things that we do... Why push the envelope????

Some states concealed carry permits even state the gun must be carried concealed. I think that was made to appease both the gun owner and the non gun owner, IMO.the only thing that I try to check on is if I am going into other states is if they allow recoprocity. If not, I still carry but I am far more caucious in where I go with it

Jocko,

I agree with your statment about pushing the envelope but open carry is legal in Michigan and in recent weeks I have been very surprised by how many people that I have seen open carrying here. The wife and I were at a local mall that we go to walk in the late evening several times each week to get out of the brutal cold here and to get our exercise and have seen people open carrying there many times. I do not frequent Starbucks very often but I would imagine that if I did I would run across some people open carrying. I personally always carry concealed as I believe there is a tactical advantage in being discreet and not advertising but I do not have any problem with others that open carry.
I have a son in the US Airforce stationed at F.E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne, WY and when visitng him I find that open carry there is very common and I have seen many people carrying everwhere we go.

we can open carry in Indiana but I have always stated, expect to get challenged alot . also Most all leo's will challenge you not sure about what business owners would do. i am sure some would quietly tell you to not come back again if u have to open carry. there is definitely a tactical advantage of concealed carry over open carry IMO. . I you walk inside our malls, with open carry, they will escort you out, I have no doubt in my mind. It is not the gun owners who have problems with open carry you know that ol coot.

If 9 out of 10 people tell a business owner they will not solicit their place if they allow people to come in with an open carry, things will change in that business. It is also called business survival...

Bottom line, is you just cannot beat concealed carry.....

I do agree, and think that is only one more reason to show our support any way we can for any business that openly supports gun owners rights. There is a published list of Michigan businesses that do not support gun owner rights refusing any type of carry on their property and I do not patronize these establishment ever! And make sure to openly voice my opion to anyone that will listen when these bussiness come in in conversation with friends, family and even co-workers. I will drive out of my way to support a business that support my rights.

Still not going to support a company that claims they follow local/state/federal laws, and then post "no guns" on every local one I've ran across.

State/local laws allow open and concealed carry of loaded firearms, open without a license. There is NO requirement for them to post at all.

I'll take my business elsewhere ;)

I just can't agree to that, as I live in a small town and many of the people in my home town work in these business places. They have no control over policy either, they are just trying o make a living for their family etc. I have a hard time walking away from that scenario. Do you boycott post offices and school zoes then???

Whats good for the goose should be good for the gander...

Course besides the second amoendment we still do have a fredom of choice and speech, so one can vent and boycott anyway he pleases being a small business man 40years, I choose to think alittle differently about some things..no offense ol coot.. u know that..

School zones are not no-carry for me, and I don't go to post offices.

They definitely have private property rights, and I fully support their decisions to make whatever absurd requirements they want to come up with that others must follow to use their private property.

I simply will not support a company that is not required to declare themselves as a CPZ (criminal protection zone), yet does so at will.

I have never seen a no guns sign at a Starbucks (not saying there aren't any) and I am glad they have not made it company wide policy like PEET's recently did. I am willing to give them a thumbs up for that. If anyone feels the same, but is Leary about that petition thing...Here is a link you can use...

To all here,
This is my first posting here. I choose to not carry openly as I regard surprise a main element of distancing myself form the threat without being seen by the perp in a crowded place, i.e. Mall, Starbucks, wherever.
Methods of engagement can be sought, should you feel it necessary, if you are not the center of attention. I have spoken to owners that post the "gun unfriendly" signage. They do not know whether or not I am carrying but I make it very politely, and sincerely, known that I will not be back to that establishment as long as signs remain. The sign indicates "Victims here" and I am not comfortable there. Some of them have agreed but there have been quite a few that refused to remove them, which is their right to do. I have had some business cards made that I give them that simply states, "It is indeed, in fact, your right to not have persons armed in your establishment. With this in mind it is also my right to NOT do business in your establishment. Have a nice day". I simply walk out and that is the end of it.

what worries me is that unicef is backing the international ban on firearms.... what is their ad doing on the sign in page?
