3 inch "J" frame

I've been wanting one of these for awhile, so I was quite pleased when a pair of used, 3" model 36s turned up in a local shop. Each pistol looked to be in great shape and both sported rubber grips: Uncle Mike's on one and Pachmayr on the other. The shop let me shoot them both before choosing which one I wanted. I was further delighted to find both shot POA/POI at ten yards with 158 gr. loads. I finally went with the one that had the Pachmayr grips on it and promptly replaced them (though they are quite comfortable) with a set of slightly modified Herrett Shooting Stars from my grip drawer. The gun shoots well and I can keep all 5 shots on the head of a TQ15 silhouette at 25 yds with it. Holstering it presents a little challenge as most holsters I've found for "J" frames are for the shorter barreled guns. For the time being, it'll ride in the holster for my Kit gun, but I have something on the way for it from Triple K. That'll take care of OWB, but I'll probably need to find someone to make an IWB holster for it.

That's pretty, Greg! See if James Dean (jlaudio29 on here) can make that holster for you. He is currently making a reverse canted, low riding, tuckable clip AIWB holster for my 2" "J" frame. Here is the mock-up using scraps of leather.

Like the looks but though I have two I don't particularly cotton to revolvers. Think it is because I find them a pain to clean - because of the cylinder chambers.

Wow! Nice old school look. I'd bet it's got a smoother trigger pull than this one out of the performance shop. Got in a trade and it's going away

Thanks! It is in pretty good shape. I'm a fan of Herrett's grips and have the Shooting Stars on several of my revolvers.

I hear you boss, they can be a mess to shoot as well (had enough powder residue rub off on my hands the other day, that it looked like I'd been handling coal).

Thanks, it does have decent trigger in it. I like that Performance Center piece, but darned if I don't prefer another of your wife's pistols again: that pinned barrel model 60 is sweet. Did you do the sight work?

So you notice the pinned barrel eh? It's a 1968 manufacture. I can't seem to leave things alone if they're not functional. I don't want to think of how many older guns I've devalued. I wanted a .125" front sight to replace the super thin S.S. one that was on the gun. So I recontoured a 1911 front sight, had it fitted into a slot on the rib and silver soldered on. A really touchy job. I also recontoured the grips for her, they originally looked like the ones on the performance center gun.

I think she only has one more hand gun and after that,..... maybe we can like my stuff :(

Well not sure it helps but if it keeps you from having an inferiority complex I'm kind of partial to yours between these two. Both darn nice without question but I believe I'd pick yours up first if I was to check em out.

Thanks for the kind words Bawanna.. I needed them. The first one isn't or would I want it to be mine. It's trading or selling stock. What I have to compete against hers is this

It's a mod. 342 titanium. It shoots .38 & .38+p only. It hurts to shoot it. So I carry 125 gr. nyclads in it. Really nasty stuff

Oh wow! I just got in the mail my new F.O. front sight for my .22 Colt diamondback. I recontoured a Colt Python front sight to fit, then sent it out to Frank Glenn to drill and install a F.O. rod. I'm gonna install it now and send pictures.

I rarely shoot them but I got the missus (real, not Melissa) a 638 so I want to have plenty for her to get accustomed to it. It seriously needs a spring kit or a trigger job too.

I've been hounding ole Jocko for years for a picture of that and so far nothing but broken promises and horse heads. His son knows how but so far hasn't come through with pictures.

I even tried to get adopted so in the highly unlikely event Jocko goes first I could get my sticky grubby fingers on it but that didn't fly either, just another horse head.

I want to go first anyhow, can't imagine life without Jocko.

I just don't like the sights. The gun doesn't stimulate me.

Did you see these tests I did? Remember that the penetration into properly prepared wet paks is supposed to be only 2/3 of what it is into ballistic gelatin.

Example: 10"/ 2 = 5 + 10 = 15" or 10" x 3 / 2 = 15"
