Hi, I just picked up my new P380 two days ago and just joined the forum.

I went to the range for the first time with my P380 this morning. I had previously field stripped it, cleaned it and had racked it about 100 times. I shot 93 trouble free rounds. Round 94 stove piped on me. I cleared it, and fired the remaining six rounds trouble free. PMC Bronze 90 gr.

I just finished cleaning it and there was a lot of debris inside. I suspect that was the reason for the failure.

I am extremely happy with the way it performed today. I think I got a good one !! The next 100 rounds will tell. It is a joy to shoot. I will be able to qualify it for my CCW at 15 yards easily.

I have surfed this forum and found lots of good information. I hope to be able to share some helpful information myself.

Thanks for all the helpful tips !!

Welcome charliej. I'm new to the forum, Kahrs and semi-autos. These folks have a been a great help too me. Owned guns for 60 years but never a semi-auto. This has been a new experience. Got a new CM9 in January and really like it. Totally trouble free so far.
Good luck.

Welcome CharlieJ. I'm from the Fresno area and typically shoot at the Pistol Range on
Shaw. There's another member from Clovis here also. You nearby?

Old Lincoln,

Thank you for the welcome !! I am in Clovis as well.

I have been going to the Fresno County Peace Officer Association range, at Shaw and 99. It's kind of far, but a friend who shoots with me lives on that side of town. You using the indoor range on West Shaw?

I recently decided to get my CCW and couldn't imagine carrying my old 38 smith and wesson revolver. My friend had a Rutger LCP and I thought that would be the ticket. Unfortunately (or fortunately as it turned out), there isn't an LCP to be had anywhere in town. Lucky me, I found a newly arrived P380 at the LGS in Clovis, and bought it.....yikes, it was rather pricey !! I had heard good things about it. As I said, I fired it for the first time today. Much, much nicer that the LCP !! So, now I have to qualify with it for the CCW and than I'll be set to go. My application has already been approved by the Sheriff's Dept.

So, after buying the gun, I thought, gee, maybe I should find out about what I bought and I ended up here !!

Yeah, I prefer heat in the winter and a/c in the summer so it's indoors for me. My motto is no pain, no pain. It's the Pistol Range at Shaw & 99. I do have to qualify every couple years at the Sheriffs Range off of Herndon & 99.

Sorry I'm a bit slow getting my PM9 posted for sale. The whole shebang would have been a terrific starting point with concealed. I may have the reloading stuff sold, but the gun, holsters, and more are going on the forum either tomorrow or next week.

Welcome to the forum CharlieJ. My brother retired from the CA Corrections and lives in Morro Bay for a bit longer.

In case you haven't seen all of this, here's some info and links:

Welcome to the Kahrtalk forum supported by Kahr Arms.
Here are a few essential links and things to do BEFORE you take your new pistol to the range, and ESPECIALLY BEFORE taking it apart and trying to re-assemble it! The Kahr is a different design… 6-7 unique patents cover the Kahrs. I’m not trying to imply that you don’t know anything about guns, but many don’t know anything about the Kahrs and some of the things you can do to damage or cause malfunctions of your new, or new-to-you Kahr pistol.
First, if you don’t have a manual, yet, or one didn’t come with your pistol, you can download the pdf file here:
http://www.kahr.com/PDF/kahrmanual.pdf
Impatient? Watch one of these videos FIRST! These videos can point out possible problem areas and emphasize correct procedures!
Take down and re-assembly videos:

There are many links on fixing problems listed in several places… under the New Member or Kahr Tech sub-forums.
A very handy one is the Kahr Lube Diagram:

Many of your questions can be answered in these areas and you can learn how your Kahr works and not damage it with improper handling.
Frequently asked questions: http://www.kahr.com/faq.asp?

There are many helpful members here most of the time who might be able to help you, but as anywhere, there are many opinions and not all are correct. Be mindful of this before doing anything drastic to modify your pistol!

Welcome. I am also new to the forum and Kahr firearms. I recently (2 weeks ago) purchased a PM9 and shortly after signed up on Kahrtalk. Members here are very knowledgable and quick to share their insight with newbies like us.
Good luck and good shooting.

Wynn, thanks! I'm open to all the help I can get! This is my first semi auto.

Yes I have read the owners manual. The California version is a bit tricky to get the slide off, unless you read the supplement to the owners manual. The folks in the LGS didn't know how to take the slide off!!

My only concern now is if it will continue to eject the casings on my head. I hope it's just new springs. I'll do 100 more rounds.

Thanks for the welcome.

My first outing with my PM45 I got conked on the forehead a bunch. After the range I went shopping at Walmart for about half an hour. When I got home, I found that my forehead was covered with 1/4" or so black marks. I just wonder what the other people thought!

Any pix of my shooting now shows that I wear a Kahr cap low in the front and eye protection, but along the way my PM45 stopped giving me those "love taps".
