Purchased an MK40 from a gunsmith in New Mexico, it was his personal gun, he upgraded to an Elite for unknown reasons. The pistol is from 1999 from what I can find per the serial number MA13XX. Took it to the range yesterday along with my Shield 40 and compact 40 that has had some work done to it. I really like the Kahr, it will be my backup CCW, sorry I really love the Shield. Original owner replaced almost every part of this gun that could wear out, springs, ejector, exstactor, barrel, recoil spring. and sent the old parts with the purchase. Truthfully I see nothing wrong with the old ones, they show very little wear. I think the old fellow was a little OCD, never met him but you could tell from his voice and demeaner he was an older gent. Pistol shot spot on, a little snappy with 165gr, but the 180gr tamed it right down. Shoots right on target, and when I run out of bullets it is heavy enough the beat the perp to death. Really think this one is a keeper.

I've got several thousand rounds through mine.
She just gets smoother with use and will feed anything.
I did run smokin hot Speer GDHP 155 gr (1,150 fps 450 E from a MK40!).
But found follow up shots weren't as quick as I'd like.
Mine is much softer shooting with 180 gr.
And I'm much faster back on target.

Now my preferred load is Speer's outstanding GDHP Short Barrel 180 gr.
Try some - you'll like them.

+1 on the Speer 180-grain GDSB!

Here's some info if you haven't seen some of it:

Welcome to the Kahrtalk forum supported by Kahr Arms.
Here are a few essential links and things to do BEFORE you take your new pistol to the range, and ESPECIALLY BEFORE taking it apart and trying to re-assemble it! The Kahr is a different design… 6-7 unique patents cover the Kahrs. I’m not trying to imply that you don’t know anything about guns, but many don’t know anything about the Kahrs and some of the things you can do to damage or cause malfunctions of your new, or new-to-you Kahr pistol.
First, if you don’t have a manual, yet, or one didn’t come with your pistol, you can download the pdf file here:
http://www.kahr.com/PDF/kahrmanual.pdf
Impatient? Watch one of these videos FIRST! These videos can point out possible problem areas and emphasize correct procedures!
Take down and re-assembly videos:

There are many links on fixing problems listed in several places… under the New Member or Kahr Tech sub-forums.
A very handy one is the Kahr Lube Diagram:

Many of your questions can be answered in these areas and you can learn how your Kahr works and not damage it with improper handling.
Frequently asked questions: http://www.kahr.com/faq.asp?

There are many helpful members here most of the time who might be able to help you, but as anywhere, there are many opinions and not all are correct. Be mindful of this before doing anything drastic to modify your pistol!

If I had to get rid of all my guns, the MK40 would be about the last to go, and I don't even care for the 40 cal S&W. MK45 Kahr????

How many post do you have to aquire to be able to add attachments? I would like to post pics of this fine fire arm, and some pics about Remora holsters another member was asking about. I have found a solution to their delima and wanted to show them how the gun fits in the holster I recogmended to them. And yes this pistol is a keeper.

The MK40 is a great CCW. Mine is my EDC. You've got yourself a great gun.

It is an older one, but looks like the day it was new, I think it was a good score. It has the Tridium sights on it. The front one is a little weak, but I have new ones to put on it. My sight pusher will not remove the front one, recoil spring lug is in the way. I just might send it out to get them done. I also added wood grips to it, I like the look of the grip, but like the feel of the original ones a little better. It truely is amazeing the accuracy of such a shot barrel, and the recoil is very managable to. To me it has a real gun feel to it, not anything like a polymar pistol at all. This is a weapon you buy once and it last a lifetime.

You can post pictures from Photobucket. The way I post pics is upload them to Photobucket, click on the image, select the Direct Link on the right, come over here to the Post Edit Window, select the Picture Icon (http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee486/John_England/Misc/PictureIcon.jpg), paste the link in there and hit Enter. If I am pulling a picture from some other website, I Right Click it and select Copy Image Location, then post the same way.

If I tried al lthat crapola that you just posted, ur more than likely gonna get Monica on her knees or Danica doin Stenhouse. Course neither would be a bad thing but there is just no way I could do all that u just said and get it right.

Course Bawanna and the utter mods won't let me post photos either for fear of the UNKNOWN.:Amflag2: Probably a wise decision to. Just sayin

Hey! Don't knock Danica! She did good... didn't do something brash and spin out in the last lap or so... finished in the top 10!

I can't remember ever watching an entire NASCAR event of any kind before. i had it on in every room and watched most on the big screen.

Put that link into the window you get with the picture icon above to get this:

http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/cc471/Dinosgoat/100_1687Medium_zpsc9d71b90.jpg

Instead of just the red link/URL.

http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/cc471/Dinosgoat/100_1688Medium_zps5d79ffa8.jpg

Click on the picture icon... as John showed a few posts back and paste your link into the window and hit "OK". Then you'll display the picture instead of the URL.

she looked like pelosie,or Madeline Albright u would not be saying that. Phoenix will tell alot about danica. Hell they all ran 198 laps in line like a train. not real rocket science in that , but when it came time to actually race, she didn't have a clue. She will help nascar due to her body, not really for her skills, IMO, so sorry wyn, I can knock her until she proves other wise. I loved Vegas odds on her at Phoenix 300 to 1..:Amflag2:

Agreed. Not a real NASCAR fan either, but I watched most of the race. I have been a Danica fan since her rookie race at Indy where she was leading and could have won but for a gallon or two of fuel. I still wish she could have held onto the third place with a lap or so to go in the 500. She still beat 36 drivers out of 43.
