Check out the 3rd sticky in this section and see if it will help you with that....If your pistol is a NYPD trade in I think they were mostly from the late 90's early 2000's time frame but dont hold me to that....Good luck....

Welcome to the forum, Storz. Here's some info if you haven't seen it all:

Welcome to the Kahrtalk forum supported by Kahr Arms.
Here are a few essential links and things to do BEFORE you take your new pistol to the range, and ESPECIALLY BEFORE taking it apart and trying to re-assemble it! The Kahr is a different design… 6-7 unique patents cover the Kahrs. I’m not trying to imply that you don’t know anything about guns, but many don’t know anything about the Kahrs and some of the things you can do to damage or cause malfunctions of your new, or new-to-you Kahr pistol.
First, if you don’t have a manual, yet, or one didn’t come with your pistol, you can download the pdf file here:
http://www.kahr.com/PDF/kahrmanual.pdf
Impatient? Watch one of these videos FIRST! These videos can point out possible problem areas and emphasize correct procedures!
Take down and re-assembly videos:

K series:

There are many links on fixing problems listed in several places… under the New Member or Kahr Tech sub-forums.
A very handy one is the Kahr Lube Diagram:

Many of your questions can be answered in these areas and you can learn how your Kahr works and not damage it with improper handling.
Frequently asked questions: http://www.kahr.com/faq.asp?

There are many helpful members here most of the time who might be able to help you, but as anywhere, there are many opinions and not all are correct. Be mindful of this before doing anything drastic to modify your pistol!

Welcome to the forum. Good job on your purchase of the K9. I love mine. I also have a mk9 and a t9 but I carry my K9 most of the time! It is a great gun.

I shoot USPSA and wish the T9 was legal in single stack! I'd have one on order tomorrow!

Hello, Storz, and welcome from Missouri to a great forum. Good people and info here!

I also have a used K9 (1996 vintage). The previous (one person) owner recommended changing the recoil spring every 500 rounds. My only gripe with this great pistol is the take-down, as you have to hammer out the retaining pin to get the slide off - a procedure that takes three hands without some props. I use a piece of wood just the right size to hold the slide in the right position aligning the pin with the notch when the wood is inserted in the open chamber and the slide released to rest against it. then I use a wood dowel to knock the pin out with the pistol resting on it's plastic case. It works consistently and saves much frustration.

Take care, and best wishes to you and yours!

Welcome from a fellow K9 owner. Geo is right, the slide lock pin is a booger to get out, however, if you put in an empty mag, as you pull the slide back to line up, you will feel a slight click. that is the perfect position and you can usually get it out with your fingers instead of the handle of a screwdriver or such. Works for me. Love my K9 and T9. Can you tell I like the steel guns? Jealous of Phil, he also has an MK9. My next one.
