My 1911G - Love at first shot(and at 600th shot)

Glad to become part of the DE1911 family...

Well, here is a photo of my DE1911G that i bought back in March. Initially had two FTF in the first 60 rounds, but hasn't missed a beat since, and at over 600 rounds now. She's a tack driver with most eight shot groups at 15 yds. in the neighborhood of two and a half inches. Just put a set of VZ Operator 2 grips and a set of Kimber night sights on it and it was a night and day transformation... Thanks jocko! I have to say that I'm glad I chose this route over the Springfield Range Officer. I am still very impressed by the build quality of these 1911s. I have a hunting/shooting buddy who has a custom shop Springfield 1911, and after shooting my 1911G he just looked at me out of the corner of his eye, asked how much I paid, shook his head and said "wow".

Wood grips a long time. 18 years or so. Stabilized only the last couple years. Wish it wasn't so expensive so I could have it on hand like other woods. Its great stuff.

I am actually talking with a LGS to have it bob-tailed and have 25 LPI checkering put on the front strap. Then I thing she's done. After the bob-tail it may become my EDC.

I bobtailed my Para 7-45 Limited. A lot of sweat and a lot of contemplation before I started working the hack saw but it turned out really nice and I love a bobtailed grip. Just feels good to me.
