Wyn, thanks for posting this!

I was going to say the only value, but I rethought my idea and….I shall say that
a slightly larger 380 is a good option for those that find a small 9mm difficult to
control.
I just want "more, and more" responsible citizens TO CARRY!

How does the BG know the caliber when you "draw" the gun……..Duh!!

Of course…….you could pull out a SHOT gun…….and really discourage him/her.
Just joking, sort of….you get the message!

I have both. I CC the 42 when I go on dangerous short missions to places like Dunkin Donuts and Walgreens. I carry the PM9 when I'm out all day.

When they make the G42 in 40 I'd be interested.

Seems like another miss match in size comparison. Should be cw9 vs g42 atleast to have to handgun closer to the same size. or just keep it a 380 compar-o. Just nothing half baked TAG review. Most have been the only guns and ammo close at hand .

Not to mention the 42 has been somewhat lacking in the "Glock Perfection" Department.

I was shopping for a single stack in late winter for a slimmer summer carry this year, and was down to the PM9 or G42. I chose the G42 for similarity since I already use a G26. I got it home and had nothing but troubles, not to mention the problems finding 380 ammo. Took it back and traded it on the PM9 w/ NS. I have started to fall in love with the PM9. It quickly has found a home in a AIWB holster, and as I have shot it more, have grown to really appreciate the pistol for what it was intended for, not to mention I find it fun as hell to shoot. Reliability has been perfect. The only thing I do not find fun is 6 round mags (but that is the whole idea of a single stack carry piece!)… so I bought more to do mag change practice and carry 2 spares for the range. Did some evening/low light draw and shoot drills last night against some plates @12 yards, and really enjoyed hearing those Bam - GONG sounds. If my G42 had run, I probably would have never discovered Kahr pistols… so I am not so upset about the G42 now, but when Glock does their single stack 9mm, it'll be a while before I buy one as I learned the hard way not to be an early on buyer. Only thing is, my wife doesn't like the Kahr(s) due to her inability to work the slide :-(

Part of me says why go with a .380 for concealment, when you can have a more easily concealed 9mm?

Then part of me agrees that a controllable .380 is better than an uncontrollable 9mm. Different strokes.

What I can't understand is the prominent male appendange at the front of the trigger guard on the Glock.
Seems a little silly to add that to a concealment pistol, but.... maybe its all about control. Dunno.

I'm not a Glock fan, but its ok that there are lots of fans out there in the shooting world. To each his own.

If you really need a deep cover 380, that won't cost you and arm and a leg and goes bang everytime, try a Ruger LCP. It's not cool or sexy, but it works.

True, but they've never solved the smiley face problem. Ruger doesn't even acknowledge it. After trying to get mine fixed I gave up and got a Kahr 380 to carry every day. The cw version is about the same price as the LCP and no smiley face.

Yep. and put that $10 Hogue grip made specifically for the LCP and it's even better and like you said it is a real deep cover 380.

The new LCP's have an improved trigger too.

Or the S&W Bodyguard. Never had a failure with it. Just works. Nothing wrong with the 380 if the 40 needs to stay at home.

When the LCP came out I thought it would be the perfect carry piece.
I soon found that it is no fun to shoot (for me, at least). I sold it and bought a PM9 and never looked back... ;)

the little lcp is a damn good gun, not a range gun for sure but it will go bang when needed. a 380 is a handshaking defense gun IMO and the lcp is a good gun. When the P380 is at its best there is also no comparision of the two either. as the kahr eats that ruger us with pleasantness to shoot and over all accuracy and quality, but also twice the cost. Each to his own.

The G42 is a hell of a nice gun, but IMO to damn big for a 380, had it been i a 9mm, it wold be a nice peace. No douvbt if I was gonna carry a 380 that big, I would go to the cm or PM9 kahr for samn sure, smaller and even lighter.

Probably won't be alot of complaints about the reliability of the G42, for its size shold dictate alot of space for a 380 to do well , compared to these ultra small 380's. I think the G42 is a damn nice 380 if size is not a big deal. Just sayin

I found the perfect 380 for me and its the micro desert eagle. It has a very smooth kahr like trigger and a solid feel and reliability that seems lacking in the polymer framed 380s (IMO of course).

I switched from PM's to P-sized Kahr polymer pistols... P40 and P9... still more concealable than the G42! AND... I get bigger bullets... and more of them!

I own both a PM9 and an LCP. My wife has a CM9 and an LCP. Obviously I prefer the Kahrs, but the little Ruger will go places the Kahrs won't. I for one, would not want to face an LCP loaded with Hornady XTPs, up close and personal.

I would think that size wise the G42 is better compared to the CW9.

If I had a use for a .380 it would have to be smaller than a CW9.

Just sayin :amflag:

To the people who think the G42 is as large or larger than a P9 or CW9.
I'm not sure where you are getting that idea from but it is wrong.

I have been unable to get the 2 pistols side by side (in person):(

If someone could post a photo of both, together I would be happy to stand corrected:D

That would be the G42 and a CW9/CW40.

Stay Safe :amflag:

glock 42, 5.94 long - 4.13 high - width is .94 on the slide and 13.94oz. - barrel 3.25 , cap 6+1

kahr cw9, 5.9 long - 4.5 high . with plastic base. ,. 21 less with metal base- width is .90 on the slide - weight 17.2 with mag. barrel , 3.56 - cap , 7+1

Price?? We know a cw9 is far less money. 299.99 right now from cdnn in a cw9, 40 or 45.

Now what make the glock look so good.

Glock 380 might be a decent pistol but at the size, price and cap that's just one more reason to keep our tcp 380 , greaaat trigger, 7+1 cap lighter, more than accurate enough for the needs and soft shooting enough for a 100lb girly girl to shoot and cc.

I don't personally care for the .380 but i have shot the G42 and it is a very soft shooter.Softer than my PM9 which is no suprise because it is a less powerful cartridge in a gun about the same size.
It is very close to the PM9 in size(and it weighs less too) with the main difference being the longer slide and barrel.
I can totally understand the appeal of this gun, mainly it is a very small glock.
If(when) they make the 9mm version if they can keep the dimensions close to those of the G42 they will sell all they can make.

if u would compare the G42 to the PMJ9 u will find the PMJ9 is even lighter. Mine, with some custmizing done to it weighs in at 189 ounces LOADED with 7 rounds of Powerball.

I like the litlte G42 but it is all about firepower for me to and the size and weight of the PMJ9 trumps the G42 even. Still a nice gun. Glockers will buy it, Hell they willbuy a turd if it says Glock on it. Just sayin:behindsofa:

considerably lower recoil and about half the price, are the only reasons I see picking a G42 over a PM9.

I have had a Glock 23 since 1993. It has never failed to work, and I have shot it a lot. It is big for regular CCW, but nice to have 13+1 at home or camping. Very accurate

I then bought a P380 for CCW. I had to send it back to the factory for some major work. It has been 100% reliable since and sure is nice to carry and is very accurate.

I then bought a CW9. I do not recall an issue with it yet, but do not find it as accurate for my as my Glock 23 or P380. I do carry it at times when concealment is not as much of an issue.

Since I have had zero issues, I just got a G42. Agree, I wish it was a 9 for its size, but it is much smaller then my G23. I have not shot it yet, but the trigger seams great and I am looking forward to no issues. Time will tell.

So what do I carry? I imagine I will continue to carry my P380 most of the time. I will carry the G23 in winter and in areas I feel there may be a real need (human or wild). I have only carried my CW9 a few times.

The CW9 and G42 are about the same size. I have not shot the G42 yet, but hope I have the same great experience as my G23. With modern ammo, reliability and confidence is more important than the extra power of the 9. Not sure when I will carry either over my P380.

I may have a CW9 for sale with 6 magazines, 2 holsters (Crossbreed IWB, and Desantis OWB), and fully broken in (500 + rounds) for sale. 380 seams good for daily CCW, and the .40 when needed. CW9 was bought new in CA. Any one interested? Will need to go through an FFL.
