Just ordered a PM9094A. It should come to the shop on Monday and then the ten days in Kalifornia start. If all goes well I can get it Christmas eve. My question is about amo. Just bought two boxes of 115 FMJ with brass casings for $9.95 per 50 rd box. What do you think of the amo with steel casing.

I chose a Kahr cus I went to an indoor range and shot a bunch of guns. Liked the P series

My advice: shoot quality brass throughout the break in. Once it loosens up, you can experiment. Personally, I still shoot nothing but brass in all my Kahrs. Question: if you can buy brass for $9.95, why would you mess with steel?

Welcome.

The Kahr PM9 is a sweet shooting gun, you're gonna love it. I would suggest any of your name brand store bought ammo to start with & steer away from the steel case ammo. Brands such as Winchester, Remington, PMC, Blazer brass, Federal American Eagle, Walmart brand "Perfecta" to name a few are all good. Stay away from Wolf, Monarch, Tula ammo, Agulia. especially the steel cased ones...

Hi, congratulations on the PM9. Great gun. Shoot heavier FMJ, 124gr. Make the gun work while it is being broken in. My personal preference is Speer Lawman 124gr TMJ. It is loaded a touch warm like good personal defense ammo, while being very accurate.

Shoot 50 or 100 rounds, then clean it and repeat as needed to get past 200 rounds. It may well take a few range trips, and you'll also get used to the different recoil of a smaller gun.

Enjoy!

The amo I purchased today is PMC Bronze 115gr FMJ. So you think that 124gr is better for break in. Would like to know why. We have 120 acres of pasture here so I will set up a range here.

We also love shooting rock chucks on our place.

I broke in both of my Kahr pistols with PMC ball ammo. The 115 grain should be just fine. Read the sticky Proper Prep of A Kahr pistol found in the new members section. The 9MM Luger cartridge was originally designed with a 115 grain projectile. I prefer the 124 or 147 grain hollow points for serious social work.

...tell us about your chuck rifle...:) Savage 17HMR. Not enough for a big chuck (over eight pounds) unless you get head shot. Many years ago my son shot a 13 pounder. He found two healed up entry wounds and one healed up exit wound.

These were taken with .22 by two of my grandsons. They are patient hunters. Trying to help raise them correctly. You are all invited for some chuck shooting this spring.

Those boys are standing on our grass airstrip that is at 2640 feet. Our grand kids just love this place. We have been here for 35 years. 26 miles south of the Oregon Border. Chucks are a bit on the greezy side.

Another vote for brass cases. Not a good idea to resize steel in sizer dies. I even got rid of all my plated cases.

If you shoot at indoor ranges, some of them do not allow steel-cased ammo. So that may be another issues to consider with your ammo selection.

A 2640-foot grass strip could accommodate quite a range of aircraft. It must be nice to have a private runway.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. The airport elevation is 2640 feet. Strip is 2400 feet but real rough in the middle due to lava outcropping. I am at slow taxi speed by the time I get to middle. Airplane is a 1956 Cessna 182

I spent quite a bit of time in the right seat of a 182 in an earlier life. My uncle was building up hours and I got to ride along. I did a lot of flying it, never did solo. Took off a couple times, never did try to land.

I use to love Chuck hunting in Eastern Washington years ago as well. Don't seem to be many of them these days at least in the areas I used to look for them.

We used handguns mostly. Lots of fun.

If I ever get a van with higher ground clearance again I'd love to take it up again, great fun.

Well it arrived yesterday and it is paid for. After the ridicules 10 day (to the second) wait I can pick it up about a minute and a half before 1415 Hrs on the 26nd of December. Then I will Hotel Alpha back to the ranch and shoot the first 50 out of it. On second though I think I will do as recommended by this site to a new gun prior to shooting.

Hello and welcome to the site.

Nice to see another pilot on here, I was looking for your strip but couldn't find it.

Hows the weather there? Radar is looking pretty crappy.

I am not on the charts. Most would recognize it as an airport. It is pasture and hay fields. It is almost always usable but when we flood irrigate it has 4" of water on it. I listed it on the following site. Click on the little green airplane then zoom in or out. It is Avery Ranch Airport

Where you located and what do you fly?

Well the 10 days are up (remember that I am in Kalifornia). Cleaned it and put 50 124gr FMJ through it. Flawless. My only beef is that when I hit the mag release button the mag comes out very lazily. Maybe cus it is brand new.
