Hello friends,

First let me introduce myself. I just bought my first Kahr last week. I've owned firearms for a long time and am what I consider an experienced shooter. I never owned a Kahr although I was familiar with them through forums etc. My father-in-law got a CM9 and I was very impressed with its trigger. I did not like the unrefined style of the CM9, although it did not affect function or usability. I thought the sharper angles and lack of dovetailing of the front sight were disappointing. None-the-less, it got me looking into Kahrs. I recently moved away from polymer guns (still own them, won't sell them) and got more into the steel game. My wife loves her p938 from Sig and it got me hungry for an all steel sub-compact 9mm. Well lucky me, Kahr makes the MK9. I browsed this forum (didn't sign up until today) and also read everything I could on the subject. Watched countless YouTube vids and determined the MK9 was meant to be mine.

I found a great price on Buds for $679 (cash discount price) shipped. I was pleased when I picked up the firearm to find that there were 3 mags included in the box. I got one with an extension and two flush. That was a nice surprise (Merry Christmas to me). The fit and finish on this gun is fantastic and the internals are extremely simple. I like to gunsmith my firearms so I can see this being very easy for me to fix on my own if anything ever went wrong like a broken spring etc.

Here's the glory shot of my little friend when I first got him home:

I went to the range just a couple days later and I love this little gun. What a pleasure to shoot. It is extremely light in the hand (even though most report that it's basically the heaviest thing they've ever felt in the world) but really handles recoil well and has a nice pulse to shooting. Obligatory pics of the beast at the range and the target with the first two mags (12 rounds in it) at 10 yards:

I know I will be able to do all one ragged hole with more practice. The trigger is long, but man is it silky. Just beautiful. Anyhow, I already asked my wife to get me some TruGlo TFX sights for Christmas so I can install them and I'll most likely end up stippling the stock grips until after the holidays when I'll buy some of those G10 ones that a member here sells.

This is a great gun and should give me a lifetime of security. Love it.

kene,
Oh I'm sure there will be hahaha.

Greg,
Thank you for the warm invite.

Alfonse,
Thank you. Hey I think your site is the one I looked at for the G10 grips if I'm not mistaken. How would you rate the grip on them? I'm an aggressive grip texture type of guy when it comes to G10. Do you feel that those grips keep the pistol secure in your hands, but don't snag clothing?

I like Kahr's checkered wood grips on mine. http://www.kahr.com//grips/kahr-wood-grips-checkered-mk-series-m143p.asp

That was the whole idea behind the textures chosen. I will say they are not as aggressive as some G10 grips I have tried though for 1911s. Some of those I could get to leave a pattern of welts on my hands with 20 seconds of firm gripping and they felt like they would cut if I actually fired the gun. I'm not objective on the topic, but I did go through dozens of prototypes with different textures to arrive at what we have.

I like Kahr's checkered wood grips on mine.

I like the looks of the checkered wood grips; but, I would like some of the soft rubber like ones like on the K9.

I got 60+ rounds thru before my hands got to col and that it is a dandy and buttery smooth trigger is wonderful. Seems much better over the CM45 and CW45 I am used to. Although I did have a couple stove pipes which I believe its not broke in yet but the 3 mags ran thru without a hitch. Groups just about like yours given the bitter cold weather. Will get a chance to go local indoor range soon.

Alfonse,
excellent! I did stipple my stock grips tonight. They'll hold me over till the holidays end and I order a set of your g-10s. All my other pistols (CZs etc have g-10 grips).

Red,
wood grips aren't quite my thing. I tend to wreck wood things for some reason.

Phish,
fantastic and yes my hands get cold this season too. Too bad about the stove pipes.

Man, what a fine pistol!

I had to repost this picture as I am a strong proponent of the 7 round extended mag in the smaller Kahr pistols as the perfect all around concealed carry solution.

I go with the polymer version (PM9193) for lightweight carry, yet man, what a GREAT gun this one is. Very nice!

I picked up a 8 rd mag for 25 buck at different local gun shop. He has couple more so gonna swing by and pick them up. They worked better especially as a back up.

Oval,
thank you very much. I really like the feel of the extended mag but shoot either pinky tucked of extended mag the same. I like how it looks with the extended mag more than the flush ones though.

Phish,
thats a good deal. I probably would grab them too.
