Came across these when doing some 1911 oggling. Not for me, but maybe for thee? Called “snake strap”. (you can google that term if this stuff is to your liking.) HISSSSSSSSSS! :2eek:

That looks great on there! Is that the Wilson one? I think there was a discussion on here about that one recently.

I think that's cut into the frame, my Cbob has cut checkering on the front strap. It's plenty aggressive.

Nice! Was looking at a “blem” Cbob yesterday on GB. Mighty alluring! Can’t be spending… er, investing in them right now though. Dang ol home “improvement” stuff going on lately. My back sure is not improving from it all though!

Just found this thread. I sure like that snake strap. With the right gun and a set of grips to match that would be very handsome. But I do like the factory checkering best for feel in hand. I do have some marine step tape on my M1991A1 and clear skateboard tape on my Tisas Carry and they both look and feel fine as well. Options are a good thing.

I've used those Wilson Front straps before and they work really well. As I recall I even put one on a K frame at one time. Don't know why I took it off. They are very thin metal and the texture is really good.

I’m ashamed to say, but I just found the clear skateboard tape you sent to me. I apparently laid it on top of something on a shelf in my room, letting it slide back behind that shelf. So, I kinda got a good gift all over again by finding it back there. Hoping for more cool weather again soon so I can do some tinkering, including finding a smooth front strap or two to put some of that stuff on.

I saw those. Looks like a good idea and they don’t look too shabby either.

I can see why! Handsome lil booger right there. I have not had a DW in a while, after a sell off, but wanting to get 1 or 2 again some day. Those V-Bobs are slick! Are those grips stock? Some sort of stabilized wood?

That's what aging is all about Bird, learning "new" things every day. When we get really old we can meet new people every day. :D

I continue to be impressed by the clear tape. I have it on that shiny Tisas and it does not degrade, lift, shift, or lose particles. Another good thing about it is that when I grip the gun in my left hand I don't have to worry about marring checkering that might get damaged on an alloy frame by my wedding ring. A steel frame wouldn't be an issue but I'm not sure about an alloy one. I have another one coming that I'll put the tape on, and post pictures of when I get it home and get the mods I have planned for it done.

No those are hand made custom grips by - The Finer Grain and Sarge's Grips (Honduran Rosewood Burl)

The original factory grips were stippled VZ G10 Tactical.

The G10’s look good, but the wood one’s look gooder! Classy!

Your Tisas has come a long way! I hear you about the marring. I have learned to ask friends to remove rings before I let them shoot because I’ve had it happen. The next one I polish (if I ever finish my 3 current projects) that has a smooth front strap is getting your clear tape. I was going to do it on the little Springfield I polished, but thought not as I have hours into making that area blingy. : )

I wonder if they make these for MSH's too?

Something I learned about my latest Tisas is that neither the Sig Fastback Carry or Ed Brown MSH that I bought will fit on it. The profile is different. So that tape strap might help it, especially given that the slide serrations are of the reptile type.

I recently picked up a used Kimber KHX Pro that comes with a G10 MSH and the Sig MSH fit it nearly perfectly, while the Ed Brown did not. Seems that Bobtail profiles are not all created equally.

Well dang man! That's unfortunate. Good info to know though.

And congrats on your new Kimber. I actually had one but found it almost too pretty to shoot! : )

EDIT: Ooops! I looked them up and I did not have yours. The one I had was an Aegis Elite. Both very nice looking guns!

Posted some picks in the Happiness 2 thread Bird. I've been eyeing those Aegis models too. One of their other Bobtails with front strap checkering on them. Another nice option is their Super Carry Ultra+. Looks like the Aegis and it has a full size Bobtail grip with an otherwise Ultra frame, so it has a 3" barrel with the shorter slide.
