View Full Version : Here's my AO M1 in a Choate fixed

I like the Choate stock very much, the ergos are GREAT and the constuction is solid as a rock...and even more, I like the fact that the AO's beautiful wood stock is stowed for safe keeping. ;)
That said, it did take quite a bit of roto-tool work to get the proper fit, no it did not "drop in" fit by a long shot. Turns out the area behind the FCU need to be significantly trimmed out. It has a good fit other wise.

okay the good stuff

Looks pretty nice no matter where it is. It looked pretty good in the wood too for that matter.
A beauty for sure.

Just got back from Cabela's with a $20 coupon I managed to get 500 rounds of .30carbine(and yet another dry box) for $149+tax.

I hate to revive such an old thread, but I have the same issue with the Choate stock I just bought. Is there any chance you could post up picture of the stock to show where you trimmed? I'd rather not take a power tool to it until I'm absolutely sure where I need to cut. With my luck, I'd end up cutting the stock in half :-)

I like the wood stock better. to me it is the way a M1 should look IMO..

The M1 Carbine was developed as a “light rifle,” chambered for . 30 pistol weight ammunition to deliver accurate semi-automatic fire from a 15-round detachable magazine fed by a gas-operated mechanism.
