Does anyone know how Kahr gets that really flat stainless finish on the slide? I mean even stainless will shine a little if the finish is somewhat smooth and have read the threads where others have polished their stainless parts. do they bead blast it to get the finish or something. I guess Im curious because I have thought about looking into something to black out the slide and wonder what I would need to do to accomplish that.

if it was me I would not try to mess with the slide finish. Let professionals do it if that is what you want. Anythinbg u piut on is going to be temporary and certainly not long lasting like some of the finishs these custom places can do.
They have the equipment to do it right..

I refinished the slide on my CW45 with 80 grit glass bead. It closely mimics the factory finish.
CW9 (factory finish) and Cw45 (glass bead):

Abrasive blasting would give you a much duller finish. It will be a dark grey with a little oil on it. To give you an idea of the difference, scroll down the following page to find my S&W Model 60 with a glass bead finish and the top strap abrasive blasted to reduce glare: http://gbrannon.bizhat.com/xs.html

For a true black on stainless, you will need a specialized process (probably out side the realm of DIY) or some type of paint.
These folks generally get high marks for their work and I'm thinking of sending one of my pistols to them for the Isonite QPq finish:

Robar's also gets high marks and offer a variety of finishes:

DIY:
Duracoat
Cerrakote
Cerama-coat
Gunkote
Norrell's moly resin
Alumahyde
Etc., many options out there, some more durable than others.

Definitely blasted with some sort of medium. I've done that a lot to get that kind of finish in some automotive applications.
