A Kahr in .22lr

I would like to start a 'grass roots movement' for a Kahr in .22 long rifle. Something about the size of the p380 (only a little smaller and thinner). There aren't many (any) quality sub-compact .22's out there. Kahr is about the only company that is 'squared away' enough to build one correctly.

I had a Phoenix HP22, It was a cool little plinker but a lower quality gun. I traded it in on a Walther P22. That one is about the size of a PM9. I'm not overly impressed with the Walther, it's made pretty cheaply but still fun to shoot. Not really a direct replacement for the Phoenix, it's much bigger... The Small Taurus is a really heavy DA only, I was going to get one until I tried the trigger. The other one I'm considering in a 22 Beretta Bobcat 21A but I haven't fondled one in person.

The .22 conversion kits are a good idea. But it would be a little hard to do with so many slide lengths....I guess they could make them for the 'top sellers'...

I'd rather have a separate .22lr Kahr. I'm currently planning to drop about $500 on a Ruger MKIII. I'd much rather buy a Kahr .22lr if one was available.

I like my Ruger Single Six :D Very accurate, not much fun to carry or shoot though.

I would like to see one in the TP series. I carry my TP9 every day. It would be a kick to shoot one in 22.

As long as we're wishing for caliber conversions, I'd really like a .357 SIG conversion barrel for my K40. Preferably a 4" ported barrel.

I absolutely agree! There ought to be .357SIG conversion barrels for every .40S&W. I'd be happy with one for my P40 Covert (preferably not extended) and/or the PM40. I'd prefer a Kahr original, but Jarvis would probably make one if asked nicely. A Glock 21 with a Magnaported Jarvis .400 Corbon barrel and ammo goes with me whenever I'm away from population centers. Very comforting.

i think it's a good idea. how about someone contacting advantage arms about making a .22 lr conversion kit for the p380? or if kahr comes out with the p380 frame in a .22 caliber, i'll be first in line to buy one.

.22 would be nice, but unless it replicated the form of my carry gun, PM9/MK9, I wouldn't buy one. Ruger Single Six, a couple of target quality autos, and my all time favorite casual plinker a Beretta Minx (.22 short) are enough.

There is a company that makes a 25 based on the baby browning. That is the size I would like to see.

A 22 that duplicates ones carry gun(s) is what many would be looking for. I've got a 22 subbie that I got to understudy my 38 that I was carrying at the time. The 38's been retired and a 357 is covering its' shifts. That gun does share time with my PM9, depending on what I'm wearing and doing that day.

I"ll agree with the HP22 comments as I've got one as well. They aren't bad guns but it isn't what I'd want to use for anything more than plinking.

I understand exactly what you and others are talking about. I was just speaking about "micro" size for fun. My main carry piece is a kel-tec 380 and in cooler weather a bersa thunder 45 under the jacket. (but a pm45 is looking to replace them both!)

Trigger control practice would be much, much cheaper with a .22 conversion on my CW9.

I might even be able to shoot AND have lunch on some days! :)

I think there is a niche for such a firearm. Perhaps someone from Kahr will weigh in on the 'do-ability' of such a gun. :)

I think one in the MK or PM series would be great. We don't have any more kit guns on the market anymore. It would be a great size to throw in a tacklebox on a fishing or hunting trip.

While still keeping the slide and frame thin, I think a dedicated 22lr with a double stack magazine would draw a lot of interest.

I agree 100%. But I don't know if a double stack .22 lr is possible. I've only see single stacks...sure would be great if it was.:D

Just did a search on .22 conversion kits and found this thread...I'd love to have a .22 conversion kit for my pm9/cm9! I have one for my Beretta 92FS and it works great! Has there been any headway since 2009?

I have and have carried the Walther TPH quite a bit. Never had any problems with it, small, slim, light and very accurate. About the size you are looking for.

As long as we're longing for a Kahr .22, I'll long for one the same size as the K9. However, I worry about reliability. Given the problems Kahr has had with the .380 and the inconsistent nature of .22 ammo, I worry a .22 cal. Kahr may not be a match made in heaven.

I was considering the purchase of a new .22 a couple weeks ago and really longed for the Beretta 87B, but the $700 price tag was a deal breaker.

probably never gonna happen, not sure I would plumb down 500-800 bucks for a 22 kahr either, when Ican buy my Ruger MK3 and shoot circles around any kahr 22. Not sure kahr is in for the family fun guns either. One might say well it is a good trainer for the bigger bore kahrs, and that might be so, but again cost would be a factor for kahr, sales would certainly be at the top of their list and I think sales would totally suck, about like the T9s that are super guns, just poor sellers. Let alone when they know they have 2 more great models tha they canintorduce and sell the hell out of. CM40 AND CM45. I bought a glock 22 conversion kit for my G19 and to be honest, I just never shoot it. NOt a waste of money but close to it for me anyhow.

just because the hole is the size of a 22 over a 9 or 40 or 45, doesn't mean it is going to be lower in price to make. might even be more difficult trying to make a 22 gun into what was designed for a 9mm on up..

I'm happy with kahr right where they are, I think their over allquality is really gaiing alot of speed, were not really having the issues with kahrs that we4 did a year ago, maybe that is a combination f this great forum helping new owners through their break in period but some credit has to go to kahr quality to They have to make a lemon every once in awhile..

Ruger makes some pretty fantastic 22 pistols, and has for a very long time. IMHO Kahr would be well advised to stay out of this potential quagmire.

And since 22's fire from a blowback set up and not a locked breech they are VERY sensitive to ammo power, recoil spring tension, drag in the mechanical functions etc.

Don't get the Beretta. I have one, and it's not reliable.
A Beretta Neos U22 is an excellent gun. Mine has fired 1100 rounds without any failures. Good value at $239-$249 in 6" barell model.

The little tip up barrel Beretta is a reliable and fits in the pocket... very tiny gun.

I'm trying to think of ANY double column .22's out there. Maybe a brain fart, but I cant think if any.

I'd rather see a 10mm on the PM45 chassis, or .357Sig on the PM40 chassis.

The little Phoenix is a best buy IMO. If Kel Tec made a .22LR I think they would sell the heck outta them, but if Kahr built a nice .22LR, NOW YOUR TALKING. I would love a nice semi auto .22LR that is plastic and pocketable. I'm on board!

I'd like to stop you in your tracks there.

First, Ruger's can be purchased new for closer to $300 if you look around. Granted, the stainless steel target specials are a little higher than that, but $400 at the max. You need to consider just what you're buying one for; if it's competition shooting, spend the $1000 and get a few of the really good competition shooters that are out there. But for a .22, if it's just for plinking around, why spend any more than you have to? I just bought a brand new, blued, 10107 for $260.00.

Second, before you buy a Ruger, read the manual on disassembly and reassembly, then talk to a few owners about taking them down for cleaning. In fact, if possible, try it yourself a few times.

I would rather see one in 22WMR because it is more respectable as a SD round. You know, KelTec has the new PMR-30 flying off the shelves faster than a spooked fly. ;) It looks like a real winner in a full size, but light weight, carry pistol. And it comes with two 30 round mags. (You could wage a small war! :p) I know the 22 Magnum rounds aren't as cheap for plinking, but they are still pretty cheap. I'd like to get one of those guns, but I'll wait until the demand levels out and the price drops.
