T9 back from smith***UPDATED PICS***

Since I had never seen it done, and I really love this pistol; I thought that I would get it threaded for the suppressor that I have coming. Also, I had the smith checker the front strap at 25lpi. Total cost of the work was $300 and a six month wait. Anyway, here are the pictures:

Well, I got my suppressor a while ago and I thought that I should update the thread with pictures for ya'all:

Looks like a sweet job on the front strap checkering. I really like a checkered front strap. I've found that it almost negates the need for grip checkering, so a person can use smooth although checkered grips are even more effective.

Not totally nuts about a suppressor but it looks like a clean job as well.

Had to be brutal waiting 6 months but no doubt worth it in the end.

He did the checkering by hand and ended up having to build a new jig to hold the t9 for it. So if anyone else wants the work done and can stand the wait, IM me for contact info on the smith.

While I have far more practical platforms for a suppressor, I had never seen a T9 threaded. I also feel that it adds a bit more aesthetically to the pistol.

Yeah, the wait was brutal. My smith works a day job too and has a very high demand for other services he provides (parking, duracoat, custom ammo, and a whole lot of others). He actually drove 1.5 hours to return the pistol to me face to face.

Now, if the ATF would just hurry up and approve my form four that has been pending since Jan.

Yeah, 6 months to the ATF is break time and you can bet they won't drive 5 minutes to deliver it to you face to face.
I wanted to go through the process to make my Thompson a Short Barrel Rifle but decided the nightmares and cost just weren't worth it to me.
If things turn sideways, I can always just hacksaw it off myself when there is no ATF.

I guess one real plus to the suppressor is being able to shoot without bothering the neighbors, might be a good thing. Seems like even when it's legal, if it bothers someone they whine and then they make it illegal.

I like the overall look of the T9... its like they took a 39/59 and BHP and sort of melded them into a single stack hammerless DAO... the look... and what I assume is the handling as well... does something for me.

I dunno.. there still might be a TP45 in the works.... shorten the frame to P45 length

Love the grip checkering work on the T9. I have yet to put my hands around any T9 in this area. Just none around.

That's just gorgeous! I already like to admire my T9 once a week as it is. A set up like that though...green with envy! I hope you can post some shooting videos when it's suppressed.

Where did you get the longer barrel?

I wanted that type of checkering for my MK40 and T9 but couldn't find anyone to do it.

I ended up having some engravers do a sort of checkering. Works and looks great but no way near as aggressive as the 25lpi.

I did not find a longer barrel. I had to have the barrel threaded and then put an adapter on the end. The smith that did the work is Dynamic Firearm Solutions. He is near Milwaukee, WI
