Thanks for all these great photos. My MK9 that I am awaiting shipment is a Pre-Elite according to the seller. It is polished like an Elite, but it has FACTORY checkering on the stainless front strap of the grip. The photo that I received is blurry but it looks like the mags are polished as well. Only down side is that it has 3 7rnd. mags. I hate those! I have 1 7rnd. and 5 6rnd that will interchange with my PM9. I have heard that you can never have too many mags! (jus sayin)

That mag well bevel looks very easy to do myself. My dental handpieces, a dental bench grinder and some stones and rubber points should make it look just like factory. I might do that if I have a problem inserting the mags. Although modifying it might devalue the MK9.

I didn't know know that they ever came from factory checkered. Please post pictures when you get it! As far as the mag-well, I really dont see/feel it making alot of difference when I pratice reloads at home..

I doubt if it will devalue the MK to do the mag well bevel thing. Do a nice job might just enhance it. These guns are not collectors guns, so do what makes u feel good about the gun. Its yours. Not sure there was ever any front checking on the grip front either, so maybe someone spent a few bucks and had it done. cewrtainlu IMO an enhancement to the gun to..

    Default Pre-Elite MK9

Here's a teaser. Blurry photo is from online ad. I'll post better quality when I receive it next week.

My PM9 is cast with a slight beveled mag well.

Kraz, Are you sure of what you are getting? The picture shows 3-7 round mags, yet they completely are hidden when inserted into the mag well. This makes me think that maybe a 6 round mag would be too short to work in that grip. Next, if it doesn't, then the MK Wood grips will be too short also. I could be completely wrong here but it makes me wonder if the old 98 had a longer grip. There is a note on the Kahr Grip sales page that the grips do not fit some older models. (GAxxxx) prefix serial numbers.

Its a lousy photo, but you may be correct about the mags. The one in the MK9 looks like a 6rnd with a Pearce pinky extension. The two in the box might be 7rnd with those sloping extensions like the 8rnd. I can only hope that the mags are indeed 6rnd and not 7rnd. I will be happier than I am now!

As for the wood grips, I was told they were on this MK9 before the sale and were removed to sell separatly. I worked a deal that included both sets of grips. I don't think the grip is shorter than the current models. The length from the trigger guard to the bottom of the grip looks similar to my PM9. I have spoken with the seller and I have no reason to doubt his honesty.

The older GA serial range of MK grips will not accept the new grips, I know that.

The gun looks correct to me, the mags, not so much but that's an easy fix too.

When I bought my MK40 a few years ago the 03 and 98 model guns were both available.
If I remember correctly the biggest difference was the 98 had a 3.5" barrel.
And the newer 03 micro was shorter with a 3.0" barrel.

I'm believe the MK9 98 and 03 guns were like that too.

    I guess a few years ago = June 2011 - LOL.
