I bought my P9 Covert new in early 2000's. Can't remember exact year but my S/N is YA92**. I've read through the sticky but couldn't determine the year mine was manufactured. Can anyone help me with this?

This was documented by someone who bought it, in the list on the Glocktalk site: YA93xx - P9 Covert - Dec 2002

But, that being said I own a MK9 Elite 2000 that I bought brand new in Feb. 2003, and it was made in Dec. 2000. It is not unusual for guns to sit on shelves or in warehouses for a relatively long time before being sold. If you call Kahr they will tell you the exact manufacture date.

That's probably pretty accurate. The fired casing that came with it was marked Feb 2002.

The used T9 I recently purchased, the prefix would have put it around 2003. In reality it went on Kahr’s books as a 1/12/2017 build.

I don't think the prefixes can be assumed to be exactly chronological.

Yes I know. My guess is that the frames were built some time ago and or that the serial numbers for a model may have been designated for that model.
