You & me both! I'd love to have some skip line checkerind done on some of mine. Absolutely love some of the front straps that Ed Brown does.

I use skate board tape on my K9 and K40, and some 1911's. Works well.

I have two Dan Wesson CCO, 1911's. The one I carry, a Valkyrie, has 30 lpi, I love it. The other has the scale type checkering, and I do not care for it. I put skate board tape over it. I think the vendors are trying new (aka cheaper) options.

Agreed. I’m seeing both the roll marks and “engraved” slides being done with lasers these days.

Back when I was in my 1911 phase, I had both a Wilson and a Springfield Pro. The Wilson had 30 LPI checkering and the Pro had 20 LPI. I greatly preferred the 20. Some people complain that it's too aggressive and painful but I don't think so and it gives a much more secure grip.

Heard the same thing about my Cbob. I think it's 20LPI also. Really good grip. 30 is more cosmetic it seems. Looks good but not so much grip.

That’s a phase I can’t seem to shake. Always go back to them. Not for carry, but for the range and for the aesthetics.

A phase I never seemed to have left. I carried my PM45 and Sig 365 fairly regular till about 3 months ago. Now nothing but a 1911 rides on my belt. Goes on when my pants do and comes off when the pants come off. Folks probably think I'm paranoid or something, rolling around the house with a gun but it just feels good.

Same here, but a keltec P3at. Gym shorts, or whatever… nobody knows it. Naps on the couch? It’s there. Checking the mail? It’s there. Working in the yard, walking the dog, etc. Plus, when I go into customers houses, or business meeting at the company office, it’s there. At least I got SOMETHING! Can’t always hide my main carry, but that thing vanishes.

Must be something in the water.
I bought a CZ PCR to be my EDC, and retire my Dan Wesson Valkyrie.
    Worked for a few weeks.
Then bought a K40 to be my EDC, carried for a few months.
    Back to my Dan Wesson.

But.... I might go back to the K40 in the summer. At least for a week or two.

Love the K40. I do not have a PCR, but I do have a P01 and a 75 Compact. The K40 is just so much more comfortable to carry and easier to conceal. I typically can not make up my mind between my K40 and S&W Shield 45.

I thought about picking up a nice 9mm stainless Colt 1911 for EDC, but the thumb safety turns me off from that idea. Not really against thumb safeties per se, but I dont want to mix and as between having one and not having one on my carry gun. I know that, for me, I'll mostly will stumble with swiping the safety off if I go from carrying a one without one to a 1911. If all I every carried and trained with were guns with thumb safeties, then it would probably be muscle memory to effortlessly swipe it off.
