Light Bulb Shoot, Clean, Lubricate and Repeat

My MK40 was tight as a drum NIB.
I found it difficult to rack the slide.
Even field stripping and reassembly was difficult for me.
Also I experienced FTF often for the first 200 rounds.
And sporadically for the second 200 rounds.
All that work finally paid dividends as the gun now runs 100% with anything.
Also racking the slide and cleaning became much easier

Feel like some folks may be giving up on the guns
before running them through a proper break in.

Hey there, you're absolutely right! My MK40 was the same way out of the box - stiff action, wouldn't feed consistently. It took about 200 rounds to really loosen up, just like you said. For a while there, I was worried I made a bad choice.
But, like you, I stuck with it, put in the range time, and now it runs like a champ. Racks smooth as butter and eats whatever I feed it. Just goes to show, a little break-in period can make all the difference. So thanks for sharing your experience, I'm sure it'll help others avoid giving up too early!
