Man that would look so very nice if Bird got ahold of it!
Speaking of Bird, he's been awol awhile. Must be letting the hide grow back on his fingers from polishing.

See how the grips look on that. I always assumed that the Springfield offerings were different. But they claim the distance from front to back is the same. Just always bothered me. I once owned a Springfield Commander sized 1911, traded it of a 10-7 Nickle Plated 2" Model 10, S&W Revolver. Still happy with the swap.

I once owned a Springfield Compact. Didn't like the trigger and the edges were just too sharp for me. Operated fine. Seems like people get a 1911 and change everything anyway......................
Magnum Research is the same way, I didn't know that about Springfield. Just slightly longer front to back on the grip. A grip that is full coverage on most 1911's will have a little metal showing on the MRI. Doesn't bother me, doesn't really effect the grip feel but grips just fit differently.
For some reason I was sort of turned off when I heard Springfield won't sell any parts. Probably not a big deal as most other 1911 parts will fit the Springfield, just kind a bugged me.
