Thread: P380 ammo question

Most dedicated 380 fans know about the awesome Underwood ammo. I have been shooting the .32 cal load with the Keltec P32 for sometime now but just never got around to shooting this ammo in the Kahr. Just never thought the Kahr would like the Bullet design. Well, today I took the Plus P Underwood and after shooting 150 rounds of mixed ammo, shot a box of 20 rds of the Underwood.Perpetrator and 20 of the XTP.
Rapid fire head shots with perfection.
This round has been tested in so many test and mediums. I was delighted to see that the Kahr had Zero issues with it.

PS also had the LCR9mm out for 150 rounds. Dang I love this revolver. Have had it since it first came out. Never looked back.

Underwood Plus P. results. *Even NON fans of the 380 are believers.

RE the gel test photo above:
The Ruger manual specifically says NOT to use +p ammo in the LCP Max.

(Whereas the Kahr P380 is rated to shoot +P ammo safely)

Totally agree and would never use it in the LCP. . I use it in the Kahr P380 which the manual states is OK as well as the Beretta and I have shot many Plus P ammo from the Kahr and Pico for years and they have no issues with hot rounds.
Note* They have a standard load they sell. In fact Target Sports has it for $16.99 a box of 20 and now Target has there own standard velocity of the Penatrator for $9.99, Just ordered 5 boxes.

For the LCP's I shoot the standard velocity PrecisionOne.

    I’ll look for some too.

AFter I saw your post I bought 10 boxes of their Xtreme Defense for $9.99 each. At the range yesterday, 6 out of 20 would not go bang in my 2 P380's. Target is taking the rest back and refunding me the $. I'm disappointed as I typically carry the underwood product but I wanted to run more of this bullet profile through the P380 that I do not carry.

Wow. I made the same purchase and tried mine out yesterday. I shot one 6 round mag to see if they would feed, etc. They were perfect in my CW380 so I assumed all good. I hope you just got a bad batch, but I’m going to open a different box and try again.

Yesterday ran 20 rds each of this ammo through the Kahr CW380 and Beretta Pico with zero issues. I did notice that it shot a little low in both guns at 7 rds and the velocity is only rated at 1038 not 1200 fps which the Underwood is actually significantly more as shown in the video.
Just saw that the TS is going to discontinue their APX. Must be the same bullet but loaded to different powder load.
When finished with that ammo, I shot 10 rds each through both guns with Underwood9 90 grain Penatrator PLUS P. Very significant difference in power (recoil), however very accurate and both guns handled recoil extremely well. Cost is however also very significantly more. I will be using the Underwood Plus P Penatrator and DEFENDER in the Kahr and Pico. The Target Sports Xtreme Defense should be fine in the LCP, but I do not carry that gun any longer for my main EDC.
I also use the Underwood in my P32 which has excellent results.

Here is the ammo I will now be using for the Kahr and Pico Platium edition is more expensive than the standard version, but for Carry, I will use it.
