Well...finely got to the range. The new K40 ran like a sewing machine. No hiccups at all. You know, the 200 round break in seems to apply to the polymer models, more than the steel versions. Never had an issue with my T9, or K9.
Shot 50 rounds of PMC flat nosed ammo 180 grn, and 20 rounds of Hornaday XTP hollow points. Here is the 2" XTP target, shot at 25 feet. Shooting free hand, about 1/4 second between rounds.
The K40 is snappier than my K9, similar to a PM9. Very easy to shoot.

Not for me. Out of fifteen pistols, SIG's, HK's, S&W's, etc and 5 1911's, my MK 40N is my most accurate handgun.

I think it's a mental thing for most. They've been conditioned to thing one way. I don't see much of a difference either between 9mm and 40s&w... Whether one caliber is more "snappy" than the others depends on the specific round and the pistol, yet people make silly blanketed statements.

Agreed...........been shooting .40 for longer than I can remember. My HK handles the round just fine. Shooting .38's out of my revolver has more flip.

I think it's more about the pistol, than the round. Shooter level of experience is a factor too. I have a few female friends that bought a Ruger LCP .380 as their first pistol, AMA (against my advice). They find them too "snappy" and don't practice or carry them. I find the LCP a little snappy, but nothing major, I shoot it fine. I once owned a Ruger LCR in .357, now that was SNAPPY, I sold it. I now sometimes carry a 2.75" Ruger Speed Six in .357, no issues.

I am new to the .40 round, the 1911 I bought recoil is about like .38 super. Milder than .45. The K40 recoil, is greater than my K9, but not by a lot, and much milder than shooting +p rounds from a PM45. I would say about the same recoil as a lightweight .38 special revolver. I wish I had of made the .40 plunge earlier.

It all depends on the round as well. It's not binary. There are a wide range of powders types/characteristics, bullet grains, and velocities in both 9mm and 40s&w. Depending on the make up of the round, either or may have more recoil. You can even have some 9mm loads that have more velocity and foot pounds than some 40s&w loads.

That's why I don’t understand why everyone has the canned response that 40s&w is too snappy for them to shoot when it all depends on several factors. I've fired a Diamondback DB9 and a Springfield Hellcat micro, and both had a lot more recoil than shooting my MK40, K40, M&P Sheild 40, Sig P239 on 40, etc, BUT most people would STILL choose a DB9 and Hellcat like pistol because in their mind 40s&w will always be more snappy. This is one reason why 40s&w has fallen out of favor and is always bashed.

I have a LCR in 357. I haven't fired it in a while, but I don't recall have any issues with most range 38spc ammo. I could shoot that all day long. The 357 loads I've fired out of the Ruger LCR, not so much... I could barely get through a cylinder or two without my hand being beat to hell.

If they/people find an LCP .380 as being snappy, maybe they need to carry a slingshot. My wifey doesn't think that her LCP is snappy at all. Powderpuff. It may be because she's shot my 40's, .357's, 9's and 38's. I can shoot any calibers pretty much all day long. The .357's not so much but still not bad. Some people are just REALLY recoil sensitive.
